Suns-Warriors deal not dead yet

The trade talk between the Suns and Warriors did not die with Thursday's draft fallout. More insiders have backed up the assertion that Phoenix thought it had a done deal going into the Warriors' No. 7 pick on Thursday night and believed it had Davidson point guard Stephen Curry once the pick came up. If the Suns did not think that Curry was Phoenix-bound, would they have taken UCLA point guard Jrue Holiday at No. 14 instead of Louisville forward Earl Clark?

FIRST!!!

LOL another blown sequence from Steve Kerr. His functioning is all based on assumptions!! He needs to go back to school.

If Nelson doesn't want to give up Curry, then Kerr can't have him, period!! So based on an assumption you don't draft Holiday (if that's who you wanted and WAS available)??

I officially confer the title of worst GM in US sports to Steve Kerr. He just snatched it from Isiah.

I may be in the minority but if the Suns can get Curry AND Biedrins, along with the other scraps to make salaries match, I pull the trigger. At this point the Suns need to accumulate assets. They are obviously rebuilding. To that point, I happen to believe Biedrins is a great young big. He puts up good numbers with absolutely no plays for him, all while Nelson yoyo's his minutes.

I also think that Curry is a player, though maybe not the point guard people are envisioning him to be. I say he's at least a younger version of Ben Gordon (which ain't a bad thing).

Brandon Wright-could turn into somthing too. Nelson's inconsistent minutes and roles have likely stunted his growth as a bball player.

Thomas is still worse, my friend.

Not so sure my friend. Isiah made what turned out to be some pretty poor personnel decisions, but he made them while trying to make the team better. There was no reason to believe that Randolph, Curry, and Marbury would never gel. Kerr is watering down the product, and anyone with half a brain can see the team he's putting together cannot possibly compete. Phoenix will be a lottery team if this deal goes down.

I don't agree-
Maybe Gordon is the CEILING for Curry- but I just don't see
Curry as athletic as Gordon (or as strong)

The Warriors. When will they realize, shifting various pieces is not the problem. The problem is the owner is an idiot, and Nelson is, too. Think of all the players the Warriors have cycled through who go elsewhere and make the playoffs. Why, the Wizards made the playoffs with 3 ex-Warriors in the starting 5--Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison, and Larry Hughes. Look at Mikhal Pietrus, and what he did this year. It's the system, and the front office. Finally get a GM who has a plan, and they can him because Nelson won't play the players he drafts!

No one likes playing for Nelson, he's too inconsistent. So, what, he had a grudge and upended the soft Mavs on season. Big deal. Look how Nelson blew it the following season down the stretch--he sits his point guard for the *entire* second half of a must-win game!

Its this idiocy that makes the players irrelevant. They'll never win with this kind of "leadership."

Irrelevant. The sticking point is on the side of the Warriors, not the Suns. If I could get Biedrins and Curry for Amare I would make that trade in a split second (if I were Kerr). Biedrins is an offensive-rebounding beast and would flourish in Phoenix. Amare is most useful in an up-tempo style to take advantage of his beastly size and athleticism.

jgb,
Ben Gordon is outright scorer who doesn't involve his teammates. Curry will be more of a distributor and scoring when he has to. Curry has much better handles than Gordon. Comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges.

Do not cry over it. See the Lakers trade for the 15 or 17th pick with Indiana that was supposed to land Lakers Granger. Look how it turned out to be.

TrueFan,
Arenas is always hurt and the Warriors lost out on him because of stupid rule for 2nd round picks that was revised down the road. Jamison is a defensive liability and is garbage type scorer who cannot create his own shot. They excelled because the East has pretty mediocre talent save for the top 3-4 teams in the league. Pietrus is a headcase that shined in Orlando because he was asked to play a role as a defensive stopper and 3-point shooter. If it weren't for Pietrus missing two critical free throws against Utah in Game 2 of the playoffs two years ago, the Dubs could have made that a much more competitive series. Larry Hughes is not even worth talking about. I don't have a problem with the talent that the Warriors have. But the fact is they are young and will have some growing pains. I wish Nelson would be the GM and let someone else coach and develop the young guys.

I agree with alot of this. I think the warriors have alot of value on the team. I've said it so many times here and I'll say it again the warriors last season were statistically the youngest team in the NBA. Even younger than portland. GS has alot of young talented players and IMO no one has a bad contract. This team will get better with time and I don't believe now is the time to blow up the core of this team.

I remember alot of people saying signing Biedrins to his contract was a bad move. I thing those people are retarded. As a warriors fan I belive PHX is asking for way to much. I'd give them Corey Magette CJ Watson Belinelli Wright and Speedy Claxton for salary for Amare. Thats it. If they don't like that deal they can go screw themselves.

Yeah because this draft isn't as strong as the others in the past couple years, Curry looks a bit better than he would have last year had he been eligible but nevertheless curry will still be good

All you Arizona fans that think Curry is going to Pheonix might as well wait for pigs to fly, Curry fits like a glove with the Warriors, he's perfect for their system, him alone for the over-hyped Stoudemire would be a joke.

how about a deal with orlando? if they give the suns hedo, gortat and jj riddick for amare? im not that into salery and stuff like that but it sounds like a good trade 2 me. looks like hedo and gortat is going anyway so why nok?
orlando would have a starting 5 with nelson, carter, lewis, amare and howard. that just sounds nasty. and i think amare would fit in better with howard at his side then shaq cuz orlande can still play an up tempo game. and amare's lack of d would't be that big of a problem when he is playing with the defensive player of the year.
the suns get a shooter in riddick, a big guy in gortat and a go to guy in hedo.
how do you guys see it?

I may not live in Oakl-Town, but I did have season tickets for 10 seasons & the Warrior's are still my team. Yes the ownership are blathering idiots. No, Don Nelson is not. He is the only bright spot for this franchise @ the moment. True, Chris Mullin got the shaft over the Monte Ellis deal to which Monta doesn't seem to appreciate Mully's backbone on this matter.

How about Brandan Wright,Marco Belinelli,Anthony Randolph & a future draft pick or the choice of Speedy Claxton or C.J. Watson for Stoudemire? You need a true center, & Randolph is not Biedrins. Biedrins is the only true Center on the team & averages a double double. Biedrins, packaged with Stoudemire, Monta & Curry would be a force. The only ingredient missing is a true small forward. No, it's not Stephen Jackson who should be coming off the bench.
