Oklahoma won another recruiting battle this weekend in reeling in a verbal commitment from 4-star running back Roy Finch, OUESPN.com reported Friday night. Finch, a 5-foot-8, 170-pound back out of Niceville, Fla., had offers from Tennessee, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss and North Carolina, among others. As a junior, Finch rushed for almost 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns last season.

nice back. don't read too much into it from a recruiting standpoint. Kid grew up in OK, moved to Fl a couple years ago and now is heading back to OK.

Wow. A verbal commitment in June. Might as well give up on that one.

I'm not sure how Stoops does it but he always has a stable of top running backs.

He better hope that whichever qb he has waiting in the wings once Bradford leaves pans out.

Yeah. And go learn basic English.

5-8 and 170, he must have either great wheels or great moves. And you should notice Niceville is in the panhandle of FL - there is good football up there, but it's not quite the same as the central/south FL HS teams. Not a slam (Emmitt Smith is a Pensacola product, and Danny Weurffel is from Ft. Walton Beach as examples), just saying the usual ooohs and ahhhs for FL HS talent is from further downstate.

Just like FJJ says, may not want to read too much into this one quite yet.

On another note we've lost a great pitchman. RIP Billy.

With Finch verballing, you might see verbal RB Brennan Clay start to get a wandering eye. OU is getting pretty crowded at the RB position.

5'-8" 170. That's me only 4 inches shorter. Kick returner?

Thanks for the info, I was wondering about that.

Yes we did and I loved that show. Very sad.

I wouldn't be surprised if he looks @ the depth at RB then converts to a db.

Noel Devine, Jacquizz Rodgers..

Tennessee is going to have a hard time getting RBs to commit, at least before the season, since two of the top backs from the '09 class signed with the Vols. If UT's running game really excels this season, though, I don't doubt that the Vols can snag a previously-committed back before signing day.

What depth? Murray, Brown, and Madu have a MAXIMUM of 2 seasons left. The only guy he'll really have to compete with is Calhoun.

Blake Bell? Don't count on it. The future of OU football lays in the hands of Landry Jones.
