Schools waiting on Stephenson's trial

The waiting game continues for former Lincoln H.S. star Lance Stephenson, who will be back in Brooklyn Criminal Court today stemming from an October arrest after he and teammate Darwin Ellis allegedly groped a girl near their school. Stephenson will be there for another pre-trial hearing, and the longer the case goes on, the longer it could take the four-time PSAL champion to find a college. The 6-foot-5 Stephenson appeared bound for Kansas before John Calipari's move from Memphis to Kentucky triggered a slew of changes. Memphis and Arizona still appear interested in Stephenson, who reportedly spent the weekend on a visit to Cincinnati.

If his court case is dismissed today, as expected, he will be a UC Bearcat tomorrow.

Anybody know of trouble before this incident??? Seems like a guy this high profile would have picked a school long before now.

even if he is found guilty, he will be a Bearcat tomorrow

I can't believe that a program like Kentucky with its history and tradition would take a chance on this kid. He sounds like trouble all the way...

June 29, 2009  01:06 PM ET

Please, take him Memphis and Cincinatti. We don't want him... The one and done mentality, the uncoachable attitude, it's not the direction our program is heading at the moment. With our current 4-man recruiting class, we are setting a great tone for the future; the last thing I want is this chemistry-breaker!

June 29, 2009  01:53 PM ET

Hes very interested in St Johns and there number 1 on his list so why is everyone saying Cincy?

you're welcome!! courtesy of the Wildcats

Kids like this don't belong on college, we need to stop pretending they will ever be student-athletes

June 29, 2009  05:50 PM ET

Don't do it Bearcats! Right on with your analogy FJJ.

June 29, 2009  10:44 PM ET

Arizona doesn't need this guy. I've been very impressed with the recruiting class that Coach Miller has put together. Five guys who are all class acts, all in the top 100 in the rankings, and all who look like they would stay multiple years. So, why would you put a one-and-done, head case into that mix?

June 30, 2009  12:01 AM ET

This guy has USC written all over him!

June 30, 2009  05:04 AM ET

Why doesn't Arizona need this guy? He's exponentially better than Budinger.

Gariboy, read a little closer, Kentucky has not shown any interest in this kid.
