T-Wolves general manager David Kahn fielded offers for Al Jefferson on draft day -- including one from New Jersey that offered Devin Harris, Yi Jianlian and the No. 11 in some sort of package -- but don't think they were considered all the seriously.

Thorn....Why ship the players out little by little? Just invite all the players for a yardsale in Newark before the season starts so other teams can pick what they want at a bargain price...

June 30, 2009  07:23 AM ET

Neither team knows where they are headed, wait scratch that they know.....the lottery again next year, and the year after that, and the year after that.......

June 30, 2009  07:27 AM ET

this can't be true. why would you ship jefferson to NJ for jianlian who doesn't produce anything. devin harris is an all star caliber pg but the T'wolves just drafted 20 pgs last week

June 30, 2009  07:40 AM ET

there won't be another trade all year.

June 30, 2009  08:22 AM ET

Sorry-Jefferson has such a high ceiling the wolves aren't going to part with him. They will build, build , build, around that guy...

I guess we just found the new worse GM in the NBA. Kahn is trying to outdo Kerr for the worse GM now. Why would you want to trade away a proven low post player in Big Al? I forgot, he is trying to assemble the first ever PGs team. All the position on the court will be PGs. They will have PGs starting in Devin Harris, Rubio, Flynn, Telfair, and their second round PG pick that I forgot the name.

You gotta give Rod a pass-
he's proven to be a good GM int he past-
Him GETTING harris was a nice move
Him trading RJ was a cost cutting move - AFTER he realized
he wasn't going to be able to compete for a ring to try and
free up his large contract.
- I would've tried keeping RJ & jettisoned Carter -

Al Jefferson v. KG

Now we know who really got the better of this deal. I'll take Jefferson's next five years for KG's any day.

June 30, 2009  09:26 AM ET

I do not believe this.

June 30, 2009  09:29 AM ET

It would be a mistake to get rid of Jefferson, and now that McHale isn't running the show it's a mistake I doubt they'll make!!

For Minnesota, getting rid of Al Jefferson in any trade would be stupid, but also, why would New Jersey trade their franchise player for another big man? They already have an up-and-coming center in Brook Lopez?

June 30, 2009  11:10 AM ET

I would take a young all-star over a big man who just missed a season because of knee surgery ANY DAY

June 30, 2009  11:34 AM ET

I don't believe this deal at all. This is pure rumor.

June 30, 2009  11:46 AM ET

Jefferson is the man that the Timberwolves are building around. You don't trade a guy like that.

June 30, 2009  11:51 AM ET

"but don't think they were considered all the seriously."

Hold your horses there guys

June 30, 2009  11:55 AM ET

That's 5 point guards Minnesota would have with Devin Harris, Ricky Rubio, Sebastian Telfair, Jonny Flynn, and the rarely used Bobby Brown.

June 30, 2009  12:04 PM ET

I'm assuming this trade proposal was before the draft. If the trade was made, the Wolves wouldn't of drafted point guards with their 1st 3 picks.

jefferson is another zbo. 20/10 guy on a bad team.only has limited inside moves and no defense.

but kg led the celts to the title. he never could win in minny w/bd players around him.you hv to hv good role players around your star for them to win. jefferson is gd but he is in the same boat as kg. gd player w/the wrong organization.

Last time I checked, the point was to win titles, sell tickets and move merchandise.
