The agent for David Lee scoffed at speculation yesterday the Knicks' acquisitions of big men, first-rounder Jordan Hill and Darko Milicic, mean his rugged-rebounding client is done as a Knick. The shaky futures of restricted free agents Lee and Nate Robinson will become clearer in the next 24 hours. Lee and Robinson become free at midnight. President Donnie Walsh's spin is clear. He wants to re-sign Lee and Robinson if he can get them at "reasonable" contracts. To that end, a source said Robinson would consider signing the Knicks' one-year qualifying offer, believing the economy will be stronger in 2010.

Why even consider giving him a contract beyond 2010? Just give him a 1yr 10mil deal for now and renegotiate with him next season after getting a franchise player or two...

As for Nate Robinson if he doesn't take the qualifying offer let him moonwalk to wherever he wants...

Knicks are in a tough position - what is actually going to happen in 2010 when they have all this cap room and no big name player wants to come - do they donate the cap space to season ticket holders?

The article is almost to the point for the first time. NY has added players as insurance just in case they lose Lee. I don't know who is NY's insurance player for Nate. Duhon is their only PG.

Most teams wouldn't mind getting Lee & Robinson at a "reasonable" price. Goes without saying.

If the Knicks is so concern about signing two free agents in 2010 they have to Lee and Nate go.That would be a shame but that is what the Knicks management has been selling to the fans.

stop with the one year deals for Lee- he ain't going to leave
GUARANTEED $$$ on the table- he's going to have a dozen teams
make him offers- ALL will be multi-year
- I HOPE he gives us a 'home-team discount' but not counting on it

As for Nate- I don't see him signing a qualifyign offer either- cause
he'll get a little more as well - but for him it might be a smart move
cause if he can keep his head together for one more year and put
up 15+pts a night in D'As offense- he will have proved he wasnt'
a total fluke & earn himself more

Yeah... since The King is going to want to go somewhere were he wont have a chance to win a championship for 2+ years cuz the talent isnt there... but hey, if he goes to the knicks he will prob win a championship sooner than he would in cleveland.... because its cleveland.

Bye Nate. Say hi to Don Nelson for me.

I guess this makes them goners cos I can't see Walsh adding to the 2010 cap significantly... plus those two haven't led us to the playoffs anyways... I wish em well!

Keep Nate and Lee. However, because of Hill, Nate is more valuable now, to this team, as a scorer. As long as he keeps his head in the game, and not in other players faces.

June 30, 2009  12:33 PM ET

lee and nate who to let go, hmmmmmmmmmmm?

June 30, 2009  02:53 PM ET

I say let em both leave. If Lee is smart, he will want to return to the Knicks, because he is the ONLY rebounder on the Knicks. On a decent team, he'll be along the lines of 8ppg 6rpg. If he doesn't come back, then Jordan Hill will be the replacement for Lee. I have no idea who Hill is, but if he's 6'10, he could get double doubles every game as well. I guarantee even Calvin Booth can get 10 rpg if he was the only guy who looks to rebound on a team.

if Lebron stay a cav and I believe he will the Knicks will need to fire as many excutives as possible

They could just reasonably walk away for more $$$. I use to love watching the Knicks play. Let's hope they can get things changed around soon. I know the fans are impatient there. What do you expect from big city team?

I'm a huge fan & I'm not impatient....
We are TRYING to get out of a HUGE hole formed by
Scott Layden & deepened by Isiah....
Donnie did a VERY good job this past year- purging-
but obviously more work needs to be done

I am giving them until the start of 2011 season to put a
reasonable team on the court- if not ....I'm DONE with them

June 30, 2009  05:26 PM ET

Ship Nate to MN who I've heard are looking for another PG.

They'll come. It's NY. Period. Now.. let's move on.

June 30, 2009  06:38 PM ET

If, Lee signs back with NY, what other big name superstar could we get with all the money we'll have in the summer of 2010, LeBron & Bosh? We would have Bosh,Lee,Hill,Milicic as 4 big men. Who do you guys think the Knicks should go after with LeBron in the summer of 2010?

June 30, 2009  08:28 PM ET

David Lee is very underrated but giving him $10 a season seems like a bit much. Give him this though, he put up good numbers on a bad team. Kurt Thomas didn't when he was in NY.

Lee also led the league in double doubles, which is shocking since he plays in the same one with Dwight Howard.

I like Lee and would love to see him on a team I enjoy. But giving him a 4 or 5 year deal at $10 per is paying him for being on a bad team - tho I'm sure someone will. He's not a difference maker type player - there are few of those - but he is a great complimentary player that by NBA standards should make about $7-8 million based on all factors.
