06:20 AM ET 06.30 | Lamont Jones ended a lengthy college recruiting process by committing to the University of Arizona, the fourth college he's pledged to attend over the past four years. fter his freshman year at Rice HS, Jones committed to Louisville, following teammate Edgar Sosa. Before his junior year, he left Rice to play at American Christian School in Aston, Pa., and withdrew his commitment to Louisville during the basketball season. American Christian, the school that produced recent NBA lottery pick Tyreke Evans, closed its high school after Jones' junior year, so he chose to attend Oak Hill Academy last summer. Jones seemingly settled on a college last November, when he verbally committed to Virginia Tech. He decommitted during an official recruiting visit in March, saying that he'd "jumped the gun." A month later, Jones jumped at the opportunity to play for USC, signing a letter of intent to play for the Trojans in late April.

The classic case of teenagers with little guidance... so emotional and jumpy

If he takes a RS year in college maybe he can get in a 5th school. Can't imagine bouncing around like that from HS to HS. He's just a kid. the USC thing is understandable given what's happened there. Lets hope this one sticks though or his popularity among schools is gonna slide.

It must be nuts for these coaches chasing teenage kids around to make a commitment, and then honor their word. Then to complicate it add in a father and mother.

Hopefully the ladies at uofa are following this. This guy will be faithful, until he gets a better offer.

And just how many of the coaches are still at those schools? Commitment by coaches and schools is a much bigger problem.

The article says "A month later, Jones jumped at the opportunity to play for USC, signing a letter of intent to play for the Trojans in late April."
How can he change the commitment after that?
Oh I get it. He later realized USC didn't play basketball in late April, so the LOI was voided.

And he probably thinks he's a one and done. So it's 4 schools all for the privilege of having a kid for a year. And he probably won't go to school past the first semester anyway. Yeah, the system really works great.

The coaches don't know the meaning of the word, why should some kid from a ghetto know the meaning?

Was Sean Miller's contract up at Xavier? He must be emotional and jumpy as well. College sports is a business, commitments mean nothing in college sports and that starts from the top. why are the kids expected to do the "right thing" when the adults don't?

June 30, 2009  09:40 PM ET

You're nutz...Sean Miller stayed at Xavier several years, which was his first HC experience. Not quite sure where you folks see the coaches as jumping around....even Pitino and Calipari, both whom kept Atlas Van Lines in business, have been settled into their schools for a while.
