06:50 AM ET 06.30 | Tennessee has received its first commitment for the Class of 2013. That's right, 2013. Evan Berry, brother of UT All-American safety Eric Berry, has committed to the Vols even before beginning his freshman season in high school.

Wow! Going after unproven 8th graders. Whats next Kiffin? Gonna be at a Mom's bedside when she gives birth with pen and paper in hand? Maybe you'll get real lucky and some woman will have twins. Sorry Vol fans, but this guy is a train wreck.

Classy comment. He's the younger brother of an All-American. Besides, it's a commitment. Nothing is said about a scholarship offer, which I'm sure even most UT fans would laugh at.

I'm going to commit too. I still have four years of playing time, five if I get RS.

I think this poor 8th grader just saw Mrs. Kiffin, and he got a little worked up! :)

Its a comment on the state of UT sports and NCAA sports in general. Who cares if his brother was anything. Kiffin has managed to lead the SEC in secondary violations in a very short time and alienate, piss off other coaches and the commisioner. UT's funeral.

Awww how cute.

So because he's the brother of an All-American, that makes him an All-American too? Maybe that's what Tenn is thinking, but I hope not. I don't know how he can make a commitment without an offer; maybe I'm wrong. But the guy hasn't played HS ball yet, dang. This is getting ridiculous. Next thing we know, college assistant coaches will be scouting Pop Warner football games!

Truth hurt?

My 5-year old has committed to play for JoePa in 13 years. Joe will still be a spry, young 95 and have 3 or 4 more years left.

June 30, 2009  08:16 AM ET

It's a commitment, nothing more. You guys place too much weight on these Truth and Rumors crap articles.

I agree with commentor #9 - it's much ado about nothing during a slow sports news season.

Assuming Kiffin didn't actually offer a scholarship, this is a junior high kid saying that his favorite college team is the one his brother played for. Big ****ing deal.

No doubt in poor taste. Its a funny story but reality is all the kid did was say he was committed to UT. No one ever said anything about getting an offer. His brother is a stud at UT now and I believe his father or Uncle attended on schollie also.

Hey, my kids loves the burnt orange UT and if you asked him he'd tell you he's committed to going there. Doesn't make it happen nor does it mean he is being recruited.

Hey JRM. Long time no see.

You are dead on. My kid would commit to the Burnt Orange UT if someone asked where he was going to college. Not a big deal. Funny, but not a big deal.

FJJ... So whats the deal with yur boy Kindle... I bet he was drinkin again... But at least he is ok and no one got hurt

June 30, 2009  08:50 AM ET

The fact is, its making news on ESPN and other channels and Kiffin has already shown his A*s. Its a sad situation for a kid to be put in the news who has probably never had his first kiss or felt a ****. If its on the news, Kiffin has spoken with the child.

Kiffin is an idiot
but that won't matter if he wins.
reminds me of another team that wears orange...........
the BROWNS.
mangini is also an idiot, but if he wins, everyone's happy

Some crazy she=yite wasn't it. Story is....

He was out with some friends around 2 a.m. and heading home. On the way home he was trying to text and drive. While doing so he lost control of the car, went over a curb and ran into an apartment complex. Completely destroyed the unit. Fortunately no one was home or hurt. They then pushed the car down the street some and finally took off.

Kindle says he panicked. But he later returned, made a statement to the police and offered full restitution to the apartment complex. As of now there is no evidence of drinking and there won't be any tickets for dui/dwi given its been a week or so.

His biggest problem right now is fleeing the scene which is a major no no and could result in a revocation of his probation for a prior dui/dwi. That could result in jail time. However, as it goes now, that is unlikely to happen as he returned, gave a statement and is working on restitution to the complex.

Ultimately how Mack handles it depends on the evidence. He has little tolerance for stupidity with the law because of all of the problems in 06-07 with players. If Kindle gets slammed by the man then Mack would sit him at a minimum. But given it would be the second issue with him he could be simply suspended for the season. That's unlikely however unless it was revealed he was drinking and driving.

If he were suspended then my take is you'd see true frosh Alex Okafor start a whole bunch. Kids supposed to be way ahead of the curve and will see action this year anyway.

Guess we will never know. He did, however, leave the scene. Not too smart... or was it? Sober up some? I don't know. All college players need to start using their brains off the field.
