Mets assistant general manager John Ricco, who is on this leg of the week-long road trip, said yesterday that he and boss Omar Minaya have been working the phones diligently to get their injury-ravaged team some help. Ricco also revealed that Minaya inquired repeatedly with the Indians about Mark DeRosa but considered the asking price -- reportedly right-hander Bobby Parnell -- too high.

what the **** happened last night with the Sox....bullpen crashed and burned big time, especially Okajima :(

Were all 10 hits (after the one off Smoltz) all off Okajima?

Okajima, Saito, and Papelbon had major problems last night...Papelbon gave up the game-winning hit to Nick Markakis, but Saito took the loss because the he put the winning run on base

Masterson also gave up 5 earned runs in his 2 innings of work

Wow, everyone had a hand in it. But Smoltz did well! Did he start pitching after the rain delay?

i'm not sure when that was...Smoltz only went 4 innings, Masterson started the 5th

July 1, 2009  08:34 AM ET

Yep...Beckett's starting, so we can hope he stays on the roll he's on lately

July 1, 2009  08:39 AM ET

What concerns me more is the Yankees and Rays are both on hot streaks and are closing the gap in the division...we need wins, Red Sox!

People this is not about the BoSox, but the Mets. Minaya and company can all go to HELL!!! Minaya you want a little respect then try to pull a trade with those slumping Indians, ask for either Pavano or Lee and Martinez or Peralta; if they want Parnell included in any package, give him up!!!!

July 1, 2009  08:44 AM ET

Mets and Indians? I thought these threads were to dicuss professional baseball?

I turned it off at 10-6.. What were they smoking during the rain delay? And what about walking off the field with 2 outs in the 7th? Not just one guy but FIVE!!!! Bad Rain, Bad Karma..today is another day.

You're kidding ... good grief. Glad we didn't stay up for that!

You just KNEW there was horror in the making. from 10-1 in the 6th to...well, you know the final. And to the O's?? at least it wasn't a playoff loss to the MFY or something!

What a disaster last night, huh?

I watched it until the rain delay. Later in the evening, my son asked me if they won and I checked the scores on the web. I couldn't believe it!

July 1, 2009  08:58 AM ET

and its deserved unfortunately....How do you blow a 9 run lead with the best bullpen in baseball? The Sox just showed us how its done. Let them chirp.. We always have '04 and the Greatest comback in history on our side!!! But OMG what a mess last night was!
