Blackhawks pitch Havlat via text
With his signature on the dotted line and five years in a Blackhawks sweater ahead of him, Dave Bolland now hopes he'll be reunited with Martin Havlat, his linemate for much of the 2008-09 season. With those contracts completed, Hawks GM Dale Tallon shifted his focus to retaining unrestricted free agent Havlat and goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin before they hit the open market when NHL free agency begins Wednesday at 11 a.m. Bolland said he has exchanged recent text messages with Havlat "trying to persuade him to stay with us."

Havlat needs to stay healthy if he wants money like he was receiving before.

Havlat was one of the Hawks best players last year, however he missed significant time the previous two seasons. I hope the Hawks re-sign both Havlat and Khabibulin, but with the cap I just don't see it happening.

Bolland doesn't need to text Havlat, he's still in the United Center, laying in uniform on the blueline down by the Hawks bench, Bolland should just go down there and talk to him.

I'm pretty sure they'll hang on to Havlat - they'll have to fight hard with the Wild - but thye cannot afford Khabi if he decides not to opt for a cut. Look for him to follow Fedorov in the KHL.

But they did dump Khabibulin and his salary. I still think Havlat is gone though.

Did they have to dump both goalies to sign Hossa? Detroit will still be the team to beat, Chicago has some growing up to do but I see a close race this division

Hawks move on to bigger and better things. Wings not so much. Rockin on the front porch, and trying to hang on to the past.
You're a fool if you think Eager and company won't take down Kronwall, just like Seabrook took care of Cleary at the Classic, except this time they'll be taking out Kronwall in pieces. Sean Connery summed up how Chicagoans handles things in "the Untouchables" ...........They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way! Check out the Seabrook video just in case you forgot.

You should take a better look at the Wings roster and average age, we here in Detroit have been hearing for the past 12 years that the Wings are old, 4 Stanley Cups later and we're still hearing it. I guess if you keep suggesting it every year eventually you'll be right.
No doubt the Hawks are improving, I for one am glad to see it, i love the rivalry. Hossa and Madden are 2 great signings but these are moves to win immediately(next year) and now the pressure is on because the young guns contracts will be up and their isn't enough cash to go around for everyone.
......and as far as winning it all next year?, I wouldn't wanna have to pin my hopes on Christabol Huet, a major weakness in an otherwise very talented team.

I don't know about hockey folks, but generally when I don't have to be "at work" I have time to talk with someone. I somehow don't think he needs to worry about spending all his night and weekend minutes.
I expect the Hawks to be vastly improved next line and once again will have far and away the best division in the league. Hossa needs to get his act together and learn how to work in the playoffs or he'll crap out in Chitown too (Long term deal...ouch bad plan).
