Andre Miller is probably off to Portland in sign-and-trade with Philly, with Steve Blake heading to the Sixers.

if only they never dug deep for Elton Brand. U'd think they'd see Andre Miller is more valuable than saving cap room and getting Steve Blake in return.

Their contracts wouldn't be comparable.

Great move for Portland. The Sixers will regret doing this (maybe not financially, but on the court).

I cant understand this guy playing on so many teams over the course of his career...He is easily the most underated player in the last 10 years....a great floor general, that is never mentioned in the same debates over the best pg's in the league

This could be a good trade but Portland will miss the outside shooting of Blake when BRoy creates. Portland will have 2 playmaker on the court but won't have a space maker such as a 3 point shooter in Blake. This is why Stephon Curry would have been a good addition for the Blazers.

Gppd move for Blazers-for some reason I've always liked his game. He would help them defensively from jump. Solid pro...

actually miller is a horrible defender who routinely gets blown by on the court. offensively he is very good.

This trade will work out well for both teams but Portland looks to benefit more. If they are getting Turkoglu as well then they should be well position to challenge the powers in the West. Turk, Roy, Aldridge, Miller and the developed young players that made the playoffs last season should bring alotta hope to Blazer fans....

But the sticking issue will be the need for a dominant center. You need that to get through the Spurs and almighty Lakers... a healthy Oden and Przbyllia is not enough to get job done against the Lakers... see what Yao did to them and he's even soft. They need to get into the Varejao sweepstakes or try to Amare or David Lee to solidify their frontline cos you can't trust Oden's health. Good luck Portland!

July 1, 2009  08:39 AM ET

I would think Portland would prefer Turk over Miller considering they have decent PG's already and Bayles is supposed to be the future. I don't see how they can get both players either.

July 1, 2009  08:40 AM ET

LOSTWILL - Varejao wouldnt be enough to push the Blazers past the elite teams in the West. Amare maybe, but what would Portland have to give up for him?

July 1, 2009  08:43 AM ET

Solid pickup for the Blazers if this happens. Andre Miller provides some of that veteran leadership, especially at the key point guard position.

July 1, 2009  08:49 AM ET

Good deal for both teams...loved Miller in Philly, but Blake is another shooter & mentor for Jrue like he was for Bayless and he saves us cap space...gotta get a pick in return too, Portland doesn't need any more picks.

Maybe they'll take Brand & Dalembert for LaMarcus & Oden too. :)

bc as a pg, this guy shoots bricks from the outside.

if you are a starting pg, you should at least have a servicable outside shot.

anyone see taht video of where miller gets crossed over by d rose last year?

he broke his ankles.

Right on. Notice how every team that trades him had a bad year after he's gone.

Blake AVERAGED 2 made three pointers a night
(and last year was his high)
Miller isn't a 3pt shooter - but you're making Blake out to be
REGGIE MILLER- which he isn't.

what about J Kidd ?
Mark Jackson?

Good move in the sense that at least Philly gets SOMETHING
back instead of simpy losing him......but Blake is a DOWNGRADE
from Miller.....Philly would've been wiser to make a play for
Kidd or Bibby...

GREAT move by portland- as they now have a legit third scorer

We actually talked about this exact scenario saying that Portland should pick him up. I still believe they are going to have trouble making the finals.

Considering how the Rockets are going to be without Yao they don't have that particular match-up to worry about. With the Spurs upgrading like they have, Nuggets, and we will see what the Lakers do I still have Portland as the 4th best team in the West. This is going to be such a fantastic 2009 season.

July 1, 2009  09:38 AM ET

If I were Miller, I'd be praying for this to happen! Philly is always gonna be a middle of the road team. Barely make it to playoffs then falloff when they get there. They have no shooters to spread the floor and that trade for Brand will haunt them for years to come! J. Holiday will be an average point that can't shoot a lick and blake is nothing more than a band-aid for a while.
