Parcells intrigued by Vick?

Longtime former NFL head coach Dennis Green went on Sirius national radio this week and said the following: ``I have a hard time believing that Michael Vick is not going to wind up with Bill Parcells, simply because [Parcells] has that creativeness that says no matter what it takes, he's going to find a way to get Michael Vick." Be assured, Vick to Miami will never happen. Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said before the NFL Draft in April that Miami has no interest in Vick ''right now.'' Coach Tony Sparano avoids the subject as if it were a charging pit bull. The inscrutable Parcells has not weighed in, and when I asked Tuesday for a comment from him on what Green said, club vice president Harvey Greene declined to bother Big Tuna on vacation, noting that Parcells would ''look at me like I had three eyes'' if asked to respond to such speculation. think Parcells and Sparano would never admit they are intrigued by the idea of having Vick for the Wildcat -- it's why they spent a second-round draft pick on a poor man's Vick -- but simply think the overriding distraction would be too great.

Big Tuna knows football if the Phins get Vick then it's on!! The Pats & Steelers will be a fight.

I'm still betting on Big Al in Oakland to go for Plax and Vick in a double header and maybe Stallworth too for the trifecta

I don't see it. I think the Phins are better off with Pat White. Pat has more experience running the wildcat, and as pointed out in the article, by going with White you avoid the whole circus that would accompany Vick. And we all know how much Parcell hates a circus atmosphere. Hence one of the driving reasons he split from Dallas.

I enjoy the irony of this statement.

Parcells...taking a chance on Vick?

Must be snowing in Hades!

July 1, 2009  07:46 AM ET

Hey, where is the Brett Favre thread?

July 1, 2009  07:47 AM ET

I like how Harvey Greene is scarred to death to bother Parcells on vacation.

July 1, 2009  07:48 AM ET

Nice...

Big Tuna knows football.

Looney Tuna?

No, I don't think so. He doesn't go for "distraction" players, or attitude guys, or me-first guys. That's one reason he's been a success.

2 left handed passing halfbacks on 1 team is 1 too many and ronnie brown is already there

July 1, 2009  08:04 AM ET

Vick would be a hell of a backup to Chad Pennington....

How about "Brett Favre rumored to be losing weight. Not eating, depressed over Michael Jackson."

I don't want to hear any more Brett Rumors. Just the Truth.

Now, where's my Plax thread?

July 1, 2009  08:12 AM ET

I still dont think either Vick or Plax get to play this season

Given the events that Mike Vick engaged in, I don't think he will get a full season suspension. I'm not saying it is right or wrong, but based on the following, I don't think the precedent has been set:

Leonard Little killed someone in 1998 and received an 8 game suspension.

Ray Lewis was involved, in some way either actively or just an accomplice to a murder and received no suspension.

Pacman Jones did get a year suspension, but it was after several incidents, not one.

Although I think what Vick did was hideous, I don't think it measures up to what the people above did, therefore the full season suspension may not be warranted.

Parcells might be Vick's best hope for getting back into the NFL and being successful. I suspect the reason why the Miami GM said his team is NOT INTERESTED IN VICK RIGHT NOW, is that he knows Roger Goddell wants to keep Vick out of the NFL for another year. But after another season, lets see if Michael Vick ends up a Dolphin.
