D-Backs ace back in Sept.?

After weighing the opinions of three orthopedic specialists, Diamondbacks ace Brandon Webb will not undergo surgery on his balky right shoulder. Surgery to repair his labrum was recommended by Diamondbacks team physician Dr. Michael Lee last week, but all three doctors Webb visited in the past several days told him a procedure is not needed. Rather than having surgery, Webb will go through a strengthening and exercise program. He will not throw for four to six weeks - he hasn't thrown since June 18 - and he hopes to return to game action in September.

I didn't realize they still played baseball in Arizona in September.

Dback threads are the Pittsburgh Pirates of FN threads.

looks like we are going to get a Webb thread every other day.....that makes for a long summer...

Reminds me of a time about 8 years ago when I was listening to a sports call in show. This was around the time when the Dbacks won the world series. A caller called in and led off his call by saying....

"Hey Bob...John here...lifelong Dbacks fan...."

I wanted to call in and ask him...how old are you? 3?

September, guess I will cut him from the fantasy team.

I'm a Dbacks fan but I see this purely as a money-move from Webb. If Webb were to have the surgery the Dbacks were not going to pick up his 8.5m option next year because he would have been out the entire year anyways.

Now Webb can collect his money, then claim his arm still hurts and then have the surgery.

In either case I think Webb's time in AZ is about up. Even if he pitches next year and wins 20 games Arizona can't sign him to a long-term deal... NY can start printing Webb jerseys now.

Wow ... getting Webb back in September will back a BIG IMPACT on the NL West race! Not!

Bring him back in Sept, start him, hope he looks good in a game, then trade him over the winter.

Webb should take care of his health and not worry about an option from the D'backs, They're not going anywhere for a long time and someone will hire him next year.......

Success rate on his injury with surgery 10 - 70 % - Without "roll the dice" !!!
