Will money keep Favre from Vikings?
It may not rival his obsessive quest for revenge against the Packers as the leading factor driving his likely return to the NFL, but don't overlook the motivating role money is playing on both sides of the Brett Favre-Vikings courtship. That's right, after the chance to stick it to the green and gold, the pursuit of the long green might just be Favre's second-best reason to un-retire once again and join rival Minnesota. As one prominent Wisconsin-based Favre observer recently told me: "Brett likes his money now. Don't underestimate how hard it would be for him to ever leave $8 million to $10 million -- or whatever the Vikings wind up offering him -- on the table. He talks about staying home and riding his lawn mower around, but he likes to get paid.'' nother league source told me that while Favre has long enjoyed his reputation as a guy who plays for "the love of the game,'' money has always been one sure way to get Favre's attention. "His coming back and playing every year is not all about his love of competition,'' the source said.

The Jets should have never released this guy. They should have forced him to retire like the Detroit Lions did to Barry Sanders.
I wish the Jets would have looked at Brett Favre's ailing arm and marked him down as "Injured Reserve".

farve is one of the alltime greatest **** to ever play football, this fake image of a down home kid riding a tractor and playing for the love of a game is BS. First he was a junkie addicted to pain killers then after signing his 100 Million dollar contract he throws his team mates under the bus for holding out, then he leaves the packers, all the time having the intentions of some how ending up in Minny so he can play aginst the packs. I lost what little respect I had for this old fart and I hope he gets his leg broken ala Joe Thiesmann when he plays against the pack this year. Brett Farve is a egomaniac who puts himself infront of everything.

I must admit I was thinking the same thing... They way they pulled the whole Plax and Vick thing off made me think they could have been a little more creative on this one...

I'm thinking a new player needs to come in the Brett thing. Like He's only signing with The Vikes if his buddy Clem can cut the grass in Minnesota with Brett's trusty John Deere

SI couldn't even find a paper or a site anywhere that still talks about this guy so now they make up their own story and plug them in here. Borderline pathetic.
That said, 8 to 10 million sounds way too much for this old retread. And don't you love these unnamed source? I guess they couldn't write "His hooker told me Brett loves his money now..."

If the Vikings sign him, it should be for minor up front $, and heavily performance based. The Vikings have the real leverage here - who else really want Farve, and it wouldn't satisfy his revenge factor to go elsewhere.

NFC Central dbs could be licking their chops as the Brett is known to start heaving ducks especially in close, 4th-quarter games.
