LenDale promises to keep weight off

LenDale White has come too far to blow it now -- he promises. Since the end of last season, the Titans running back has remained on a strict diet and been loyal to the team's offseason conditioning program. The results have shown up in his shrinking waistline, as well as on the scale -- he weighed in at 229 pounds last week. But with minicamps now a thing of the past and training camp not set to begin until July 31, there's plenty of time for him to balloon, of course. Heaping barbecue plates will certainly be calling his name at Fourth of July cookouts. "It's not going to happen,'' White said.

Wow...first.

FAT BOY!

July 2, 2009  08:40 AM ET

hahha good luck

On a serious note, if he does stay in shape...wow. The titans could have a awesome running-attack. And I am not a Titans fan.

Who cares? Tell me if Vince is still on suicide watch. This is not Texas chump. Who would think a QB who runs first and throws terrible would have a character problem? All they need now is a whinning wide out. Does Boldin still want out of Arizona?

Another weight loss thread. We're going to have to move FN over to Jenny Craig dot com if this keeps up.

Did up some great wings the other night. The wife made up a marinade and soaked them for a day, then baked them for an hour. They were good, but a greasy mess and kind of fatty. (Cheap chicken, not the Perdue ones.) So, I put them in the grill basket and spun them on the rotisserie over the fire for about another 45 minutes. Hissin', splattering fat for the first 15 minutes, then they settled down and browned up just right.

You have my sympathies, LenDale. Leaving food on the plate is tough for me, too.

Man, this guy ain't stayin' skinny for long.

Nothing like a contract year to motivate a player. Buyer beware.

July 2, 2009  09:21 AM ET

The dude hangs out at Dunkin Donuts yet he wants us to believe hes gonna stay in shape?

July 2, 2009  09:40 AM ET

Let's see if he puts his money where is mouth is (sorry, I couldn't resist).

Some guys just blossom at different times. Maybe he's made permanent changes in his lifestyle and will be fit all the time.

Exactly. It's too bad he doesn't approach every season this way. He certainly knows better... I guess he doesn't care.

Why should he care when theres always some team out there who will pay him no matter how fat and out of shape he is? Theres always 1 team in each sport who will sign a guy no matter what he does, no matter who he kills, and no matter how out of shape they get.

His new workout plan includes jogging to the buffett instead of taking a golf cart from the table.

The guy averages 47 yards a game and less than 4 yards a carry. Not exactly the kind of numbers you cannot get from any number of backs. I don't see anything special about him. And that is on a good running team. I suspect the Titans will let him walk next year. I would. He would have been the fourth back on the Giants. Way behind Jacobs, Ward, and Bradshaw..If he does not keep his weight down, he will be out of football in two years.

Tell me what part was not true. That is his production. His history of commitment problems were well noted coming out of college. That is why he dropped to the second round. Any team that throws serious money at him next year in FA is taking a chance. And the return is not that high.

hey 50year I thought you knew football. Cause if you did you would know that Johnson works the field and when they get within the 5 yard line that's when LenDale comes in. So that might be a good reason as to why his average is so low? As far as commitment problems, I'm sure that he showed a hell of a lot of commitment when he has his carries cut by 100 and NEVER EVER MOANED OR GROANED to the media about some rookie taking his spot. In fact whenever Johnson ran for a large gain or scored a TD White was the first to congratulate the guy. He was a team player the whole time. Grow up dude, our so negative about so many threads on here and it's getting to be a little much. Watch a Titans game and maybe you would see what I'm talking about and you'll respect the guy that much more.

needs to fast could be a legitimate feature back if he weighed 230 - 235 ( think jerome bettis) but at 260 he will never be more than a bulldozer type and maybe he will powdered donut his way out of the league as soon as he gets his next contract

First I went and read the full article, very different spin than the excerpt pulled by TnR. The photo in the Tennessean shows the slimmer White, not the swollen version in this thread. Good on him on getting his **** in gear and working out. Now as for the contract year, yep that does really smack of him positioning for a payday. In fact old Face Stompin Haynesworth's performance in DC may set the future standard for what a GM can get for a guy in a "last year of contract". Hope White proves that a little work ethic can go a long way in turning a career back "on" in this era of Me Me Me Me players.
