Heatley vetoes Oilers move -- again

The Ottawa Senators are on the hook for a $4 million signing bonus to forward Dany Heatley. Like he did on Tuesday, the disgruntled forward declined to waive his no-movement clause by Midnight eastern on Wednesday to facilitate a trade to the Edmonton Oilers. The Senators had agreed to a deal with the Oilers on Tuesday night that would have sent Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and Ladislav Smid to Ottawa in exchange for Heatley. Heatley was asked to waive his no-movement clause by the Senators but he didn't oblige.

Big overpayment for a "Team Player"

July 2, 2009  08:00 AM ET

I guess. But a lot of teams I am sure would take on Heatley if his they could work his contract into the cap. He is taking a lot of flak but so did pronger when he demanded a trade. Did hurt his paycheck any.

The guy has talent, no doubt about it. The Sens need to find where he wants to play 'cause they'll waste their time trying to trade to a place he doesn't want to go. They need to tell him, give us a list man, and work from there.

I will not be surprised if Heatley is still in Ottawa for the start of the season and then through to the all-star break.

July 2, 2009  09:30 AM ET

4 mil in you might as well make him play or have him sit and get your bonus back..... i say let him sit...... see how big his ego gets while scoring on nhl2009.... if heater was acting like a man he would have spoke with clouston about the issues that he had and things could have been resolved.... certainly clouston would have told him that if he improves his 2way game his minutes will go up and he could go back to the number one pp...... what really chaffs my arse is that from when clouston took over the sens were one of the better teams in the league.... isnt that the ultimate goal dany boy???? winning???

NOONE wants to play in Edmonton!

July 2, 2009  09:43 AM ET

Sit him. The Sens organization and fan base are both used to playing hardball with whiny selfish players, right Mr. Yashin?

If we can flip Heatley like we did Yashin back then, and get a #1 centre (Spezza) and a Norris-winning D-man (Chara), then all's good. Hopefully Milbury can get back in the league soon so we can pull off a deal like that!

That's pretty much a true statement.

But I don't want Heatley anyway. Didn't want Hosebag either.

Khabibulin however was a great addition.

LOL!!

Watching Millbury on TV is like watching Matt Millen talk about football on NBC.

MAKE HIM PLAY IN OTTAWA AND BURY THIS TURD ON THE 4TH LINE. WHEN HE REFUSES TO PLAY; VOID HIS CONTRACT AND MOVE ON. THAT'S THE WAY IT USED TO BE. WHAT HAS THIS GUY ACCOMPLISHED? NOTHING. WHY IS HE SO TOUTED? WIN SOMETHING, THEN HAVE AN OPINION. FRICKIN LOSER

July 2, 2009  01:12 PM ET

This guy is a piece of trash. What a loser.

These athletes with NTC's should forfeit that clause when they demand trades. These pricks are holding their teams hostage. I say bury him in the AHL till he cry's mommy.

Great idea, except he wouldn't clear the wire. Someone would pick him up (Edmonton, if you believe in karma).

I am now doing my best NOT to believe in karma.

What a moron. These players today (most, not all) just don't get that it is a privilege to play in a professional sport for a living making millions of dollars. Heatley was already given a second chance at it because he screwed it up once before. I have zero respect for him now.

July 2, 2009  06:32 PM ET

Dany, you're a moron. Have fun on NHL 09 as sensfan put it.

News of the day - Hockey stud ( pause to vomit) Dungy Heapley has been signed to star on Days of My Children's Hospital. The producer was quoted, "We are ova d' Moon t' hav some body as big a draw, as Dungy, on ow-a show". Shooting is scheduled to start next week in Hollywood and Tuktoyuktuk. The great D ( no)H, was heard to exclaim, "Yay, LA).

Never heard of him. Oh... you mean the big block-busta Herman's Hermits, Farewell to Flare-well's tour. Edmonton's the sleeper - but for five or six years of it's history ie - just a bigger Saskabush. Same river, whole lotta nothin' in between.

July 2, 2009  11:15 PM ET

Only players who want to play in Edmonton belong here, not **** and whineres like heatley
