08:49 AM ET 07.02 | Europe's heavyweight clubs have been put on high alert after Sport reported that Franck Ribery has rejected a contract improvement from Bayern Munich. The Bavarian outfit have persistently shot down all advances from potential suitors, especially from Real Madrid, and the club's obstinate approach does not sit well with the French attacker.

I can't think of anyone else that has the cake to pick him up at this point.

i wish i tried harder in h.s. german, this one would be fun to follow in the german press

What? I thought he had accepted the extension. Interesting.

Where's Bayern Redux? He keeps close tabs on this.

ribery just stated it's "real or bust" according to yahoo

It's a good thing Real Madrid has the history they do...because this is insane the money they are spending and the guys they are getting. There's a reason why no one takes the Man City offers seriously. No history, no pedigree, no nothing really.

I'm just glad I stuck with them through the couple of rough patches they've had because the bandwagon will be full by the end of next week.

I think Ribery wants to leave because he is upset that the new Bayern Munich kit does not feature the classic white stripes. Because I know I am.

I agree. The talent they have can obviously still hold fine in the EPL but for the Champions League it would be great to replace Ronaldo's star power with another star.Ribery would be an excellent addition.

Man U. fans, what does your lineup for next year look like?

Best I can come up with:
Van der Saar (Getting old but probably good enough for one more year)
Neville-----Ferdinand-----Vidic------Evra (Neville is the only potential problem here)
Giggs----Carrick---Anderson----Valencia(Somewhat troubling in light of the Champions League Final)
Rooney------Berbatov

Maybe you throw Scholes, Fletcher, and Park into the midfield in some combination with the other players, but I'm not sure that changes much.

It looks more like a team that will win with defense and moments of brilliance from Rooney and Berbatov, not a team with free-flowing attacking soccer like last year. It strikes me that Liverpool and Chelsea can beat this team.

I'm curious for people's thoughts.

According to L'Equipe, Ribery said, "I have decided that I want to leave. It will be Real Madrid or nothing. I will wait to see how things pan out but I would like to hold talks with the Bayern management soon."

The entire nation of France has accepted a transfer to Real Madrid. Terms not disclosed, but it is believed that they have had to invent new numbers for the amount involved.

People can say all they want about how Neville, when fit, is our #1 option at RB. Well, not anymore. He's shown in the few games this year that he's lost the pace needed to play at this level. He's a true red devil for sure, but his time is about up. Brown is our #1 when fit.

VDS
Brown Rio Vidic Evra
Hargreaves Carrick Fletcher Valencia
Berbatov Rooney

Hargreaves, when fit, is probably our most versatile player. I put him on the right, only because carrick nor fletcher can play out there. I'm a big Ando fan, but he's still learning.

As of now, Chelsea's lineup would be

Cech (Not the same since his head injury)
Bosingwa Terry Alex Cole (pretty solid on defense)
Mikel Lampard Essien
Ballack
Anelka Drogba

With Cole, Kalou, and Malouda off the bench.

I think that's probably better than or at least eqaul to Man. U. at this point, though a lot depends on health, Drogba staying under control, and how the squad reacts to Ancellotti. I also could be seriously underrating Man U.'s midfield in reaction to the Champions League Final.

This could actually work in Real's favor if Bayern keeps him. Let this group establish some cohesion this year. In the meantime Franck's desire to go to Madrid increases while Bayern's leverage decreases and Real has a chance to recoup at least part of the money put out this year. I'm actually rooting for Rumminigge to be a man of his word...

chelsea doesn't play a 4-4-2, they play 4-3-3 (4-5-1).

Cech
Boswinga Terry Carvalho Cole
------Essien-------------
---Ballack--Lampard--
Anelka--Drogba--Malouda

the only question marks in chelsea are either carvalho or alex and then either essien or mikel
