Rubio years away from T-Wolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves' top draft pick, Ricky Rubio, 18, will remain in Spain to play for his DKV Joventut basketball team for the remaining two years of his contract rather than try to move to the NBA this season, El Periodico reported today. The Barcelona newspaper also says Rubio, who was paid $97,000 last season, plans to withdraw his contract lawsuit against DKV Joventut.

His development won't be as good by going against european competition.

Is a wise move for him, not so wise for MIN. He needs to mature his game on the mental aspect more than his physicall aspect ... and you only get that by playing, be it on US or in EUR.

MIN can afford to wait, they had other 1st rd picks. Rubio is now an asset, as a future player or a trade chip. If Rubio wants to play in the NBA its going to have to go through MIN they own his rights for one year AFTER any current or future oversees contract ends.

Rubio is a pompus ****, let him set and grow up, leave mommys skirt tails and become a real man......He made $97K last year, not bad but not NBA, that can go from 97 to 0 in a hurry playing with a bunch of hacks trying to make a name for themselves and get out of there.

I thought Kahn was supposed to be an upgrade of McHale but he's slowly proving he's just a chip from the old block. He could have walked away with Jordan Hill and Flynn to solidify their front and back courts.... but Rubio and Flynn? Now watch as he's forced to trade him to another team just as McHale gave up Garnet for nothing... when will the wolves stop being a farm for the big market teams?

Not a problem for Minny - they get a couple of years to see if Jonny Flynn can be their point guard of the future and Rubio gets to improve and gain more experience overseas with Minny having to pay him a penny.

Ricky Rubio is a joke. The T-Wolves are dumb by not getting Steph Curry and Johnny Flynn at 5&6. That would have been a lethal upcoming back court. The front line will just continue to get better, with Al Jefferson returning from injury, and Kevin Love. Wow how dumb is the new GM in Minnesota.

I think you are believing a little too much what you are hearing
He is a CHILD....he got himself into a BAD DEAL in Europe and
if he played here he would be LOSING $$$$ due to the
large buyout he currently has.
If he waits 2 more years- until he's an OLD 20 year old....
he'll have a little more experience and won't have to pay the
HUGE buyout- if he played here this year- he'd be riding PINE
It's simply a good move for EVERYONE-

So now they look smart, right? I think so. Rubio's stock (trade value) will rise. He'll get stronger, gain some maturity. He wasn't ready for the NBA at 18 years old... physically or mentally.

Good for Rubio! A man that's honoring his Euro contract. He can always make a few extra bucks in front of any Home Depot to tie him over.

The kid really wanted to play in Sacramento. He visited with them first and gave them his only workout. He knew the Clips were picking Griffin so Sac was his second choice. You could see his jaw drop when Stern read the Kings picked Tyreke Evans. It was Cali or bust for this guy.

He can stay in Europe as long as he wants. If he ever wants to play in the NBA, it will start with the Wolves. And the longer he waits, the longer away he is from a lucrative seond contract. It is astounding how uninformed some "reporters" are. The T'Wolves hold ALL the leverage here folks...

Rubio will never play for the Wolves. He and his people want to capitalize on his looks and charisma, and for that he needs to be in a big media market. I don't blame them.
