Celtics putting full-court press on Rasheed

The Celtics are putting a full-court press on Rasheed Wallace. Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce joined president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and managing partner Wyc Grousbeck for a three-hour meeting with Wallace in Detroit yesterday, the Celtics offering a contract using their midlevel exception. But Wallace is apparently in no hurry to respond, preferring to weigh approaches from Charlotte, Cleveland, Orlando, and San Antonio, according to an NBA source.

Strange how everybody complains about Sheed being deranged, until there's a chance for him to be on their team, then it's a different story.

I think it is because he is a deranged one with basketball skills.

Good move by the Celtics, but I just wanna see this guy in Orlando. Don't know why they wasted money on Carter..

July 3, 2009  08:49 AM ET

I'd rather have McDice....similar production with less headache/issues

I'm not sure I see all the fuss. Isnt this guy aging in dog years? I guess as a 1 year, 2 tops "go for it" move he's worth a flyer. But in all honesty...guy's basically done, isnt he?

Until the player that makes every team he goes to a loser is permanently and totally removed from the roster whatever the Celtics do won't matter...

Until that day the dream of a championship, parade in Boston and injury free season to star players will not be attained.

Phil Jackson who is spiritual and superstititious stayed clear off of him and now he has his 10th ring. The fight for a championship must start with eradication of that player. Who in their right mind will claim they have been mentally damaged by some basketball organization... hahah... turn that car around Doc... you need to clean house first!

LET IT GO WILL!!! He wasn't the only LOSER on the Knicks as you would like to think. The Knicks have very poor management! Start there! They make bonehead decisions that seem to always comeback and bite them. Consistency is the key to a good franchise. They change everything too often, except management! How else do you explain that the richest franchise keeps coming up as a bottom feeder?

Sheed will sign with the Celtics-Big 3 helping with the recruiting is a big thing here. He "FITS" what we do-thats why this HAS to happen...

July 3, 2009  09:56 AM ET

I'll take McDyess on the Celts this year also-lets make it happen DANNY!!!

July 3, 2009  10:17 AM ET

The Celtics are gonna need rockin chairs soon......

Rasheed is a matchup nightmare. If the Celtics grab him, all five of their starting five can make jumpshots around the arc. This could possibly make the Celtics the most interesting team in the league to watch, and might give them enough to take down cleveland.

Rasheed would be a nice pickup for the Celtics. I definitely take him over McDyess.

They are hoping when the sit in it they will have a few rings on their fingers.

The celts gotta do something. Right now they are a distant 3rd in the East.

you mean all except Rondo......

The Celtics, Orlando and Cleveland I understand. But the rest are too far away from being Championship material and Sheed is getting too old to wait.

Meanwhile...IT'S LOVELIER IN LAKERLAND!!!

July 3, 2009  12:17 PM ET

He can help any team as a back up C/PF...but as a Spurs fan I would take a number of players before him due to his attitude and age but if he becomes a Spur this team will have everything to beat any team in a 7 game series...experience,scoring,defense,rebounding,youth,coaching,versatility, long range shooting, post game and of course excellent depth at all 5 positions....

It's not like the Celtics have more than a one or two year window left either. They're almost the Spurs of the East...age wise that is.
