The Jazz, it's been learned and confirmed, engaged in recent trade talk with the Houston Rockets about a possible deal that would have brought seven-time NBA All-Star swingman Tracy McGrady to Utah for small forward Andrei Kirilenko. The Jazz, however, have no current desire to make the trade -- for reasons including, but not necessarily limited to, McGrady's health situation and contract status

pretty fair deal on both ends-
Utah gets long term relief
Houston gets a player NOW.....that can help them-
with Yao's uncertainty & losing Artest > they HAVE to do
something to improve or they have NO SHOT.
- cause lets be clear- right NOW ariza is nowhere near
as good as Artest is ( might improve - but not now)
and without a heallthy Yao - they are doomed

They're also doomed with a healthy AK.

AKs a good player - just WAY overpaid....
- but you're right...AK ain't putting htem over the top

I still say Houston should talk to NY about some of our
expiring deals + Curry....Curry is making WAY less than AK
and they could get 2 players rather than one for McLazy
(three if you go by weight and count curry twice)

'The Jazz, however, have no current desire to make the trade'

Anyone serious about McGrady, should wait until the trade deadline to see if he's healthy. Smart money says this dude is a hard foul away from retirement.

I don't think anyone that trades for McLazy is interested in him
actually playing- they'd be doing it purely for his expiring contract

Kinda sad to see a player like McGrady just fade off into the sunset.

One team I could see wanting T-Mac and his $ 23m exp contract is the Free Up the CAP Bucks, so if Redd comes back from his knee, so it would be Redd $17m, + $18.3 eto, & another player to HOU The only way UTAH takes T-Mac is if it cleans house, AK-47 $16.4m, Boozer $12.3m = $ 28.7m for T-Mac $23.0m, Luis Scola $ 3.4m + draft picks

you have to be on crack if you think we should trade Scola! That cat is awesome......he is the Rockets MVP last season

July 5, 2009  12:19 PM ET

T-MAC is dead and gone.

July 5, 2009  12:23 PM ET

why are you dumbass knicks fans always trying to pawn currys contract on someone it aint gona happen, so get over and drop the subject.

Bosh to Bulls, Boozer, j collins and cj miles to Raptors and deng, jerome james and lindsay hunter to Jazz. That deal suits everyone.

lol....
why would the pistons trade a BETTER player
for a lesser one with a WORSE contract ?

July 5, 2009  01:11 PM ET

how does ak help houston now? what if mcgrady comes back healthy for utah? a sure 20pts a game for mcgrady and jwill can use a proven sg

July 5, 2009  01:29 PM ET

mcgrady is going to be hard to trade but i dont think ak47 would work in houston. houston has defense with battier they need a scorer thats why they should just keep tmac for the rest of the yr

July 5, 2009  01:30 PM ET

two of the worst contracts in the modern sports era...simply atrocious!!!!!! and the unless they get a top level star which I doubt since none are available anymore the Jazz,Houston will join the Hornets,Mavs and Suns at the bottom of the West so called contenders...and Portland didnt get Turk so they are still behind the undisiplined Nuggs....

he plays better with gordon and is willing to come off the bench unlike rip. contracts are similar and kirk has a 4yr contract and rip has 5 yrs. that wud help them. team chemistry.

heinrich has a 10mill 4 yr deal and rip a 5yr 10.8 mill deal. Rip wud be a good bulls addition, reminds me of reggie miller though no where as good a shooter. heinrich will come off the bench, pistons wud benefit.

July 5, 2009  01:50 PM ET

It would have been a mistake.

Rip is willing to come off the bench, he just was upset AI wasn't being made to come off the bench since that made more sense!

Rip is a class act. He and Gordon however shud not play on the court at the same time, i see this all becoming a problem. Trade the guy let him become reggie miller of today.
