Rasheed Wallace is not expected to decide on the Celtics??? contract offer for at least a week. Wallace will meet with other teams next week. Orlando and San Antonio could offer him a starting position, which the Celtics won???t do. Charlotte is also interested in Wallace, who owns a home in North Carolina.

To me he's a notch above the Joe Smith & McDyess' of the world
- he HAD/probably still has more talent than both-
but he is too much a mentalcase to count on...

Though Varajao isn't nearly the offensive player Sheed is
I'd much rather have him going forward at this point than sheed
- he's younger, more athletic, better defender (now- not in sheeds
prime years) and cna keep his composure....

Go to the Magic, a starting line-up consisting out of Nelson,Carter,Lewis,Wallace and Howard with Anderson,Pietrus being your key reserves could be championship material.

You're kidding right JGB? Joe Smith can't carry his jock! He is so much better than Joe Smith I can't believe you can't see it. Offensively & defensively. Put it this way... Are this many teams ever interested in Smith when he's free???

no, not kidding-
you are on the money with Joe Smith....
and that is how down I am on Rasheed

In almost 20 minutes a night- smith averaged 6 & almost 5
In 30+ minutes sheed averaged 12 & 7

you average out their #'s and they are about equal
- my point htough is that sheed IS/WAS more talented
I'm not debating that.....
but sheed's antics and mental knuckleheadedness HAS to be
included in the evaluation......which brings him DOWN
Smith - though his skill isnt' sheed- at least is mentally there

Seems like most Sheed fans have no problem recalling his glory days--when he rebounded, blocked shots, and stretched the floor with timely 3 balls. What they seem to have forgotten is that was 4 years ago. The Wallace of today is shooting under 40% from the floor, and isn't much of a low post threat to anybody. I still think he's capable of helping for 15-18 minutes, as long as he isn't your 'go to' guy. I think it's a huge mistake to count on Rasheed as a starter. Boston is trying to help themselves on the cheap, and Rasheed is probably their best option. Funny, seems to me re-signing Posey would have been easier than searching for his replacement for 2 years.

As a C's fan, I'd like to thank Kupchak and the Buss family for signing Ron Artest! Not only have you shown your hand to be a souless mgt group, Artest will prove to be the cancer that finally unravels Phil and Kobe's "relationship."

I disagree. Remember, they said the same thing about Rodman. Artest creates so many opportunities for the Lakers. He's a lock down defender, which means Kobe no longer has to check the best player on the opposing team. On the offensive end, he's another option. I hate the lakers, and this move worries me.

The Rasheed Wallace of today is a better and younger player than the PJ Brown of 2008. Although PJ posted modest averages, his impact in the Celtics' championship run is undeniable. Surely, Wallace can provide just as much defense as Brown, with more offense. The Celtics' big man corps improves dramatically if they have Wallace coming off the bench for 15-20 minutes a game. His attitude is of minimal concern in Boston because they have the leadership and tradition to get the most out of him. His presence would also help cover up Rondo's weakness. I don't see why they wouldn't pick him up, especially with your arch rivals fielding Dwight Howard and Shaquille O'Neil.

The Celtics have the same holes now that they did last summer: 1) A defensive big man with length, 2) a small forward that can swing to the 4 when necessary, and 3) a backup point guard who can play next to House. Wallace can fill one need, but the Celtics still have other concerns.

Great fit for Celts, is Wallace interested in a championship or $$$?

I feel you on your point but lets read between those lines.
Turkoglu turned down the magic's offer he then signed with the raptors.
Vince Carter was brought in via sending Alston, Lee & Battie to Jersey.
Lewis needs his touches, Nelson is the primary ball handler/scoring point guard who has to get his, Vince needs to get his and show he can get others shots and you cant forget Superman complained in the playoffs that he needs his touches and that he is the star etc etc.
So no way in hell can Dwight & Rasheed have an alliance in the paint I just dont see it working out.

With the addition of Shaq to the cavs and Carter to the Magic the celtics would once again lose in the semis!
Eastern Conference finals appears to be a Magic vs Cavs rematch bro.

July 5, 2009  12:02 PM ET

The Cavs better try to get Sheed (or SOMEbody) before all the FAs are gone.

July 5, 2009  12:18 PM ET

I would like to see the Spurs add Rasheed to there mix it would be better than him going to the celtics.

Probably $$$, no.1 there is no guarantee he'll win a title with Boston and no.2 Sheed already has a ring.

The Spurs don't need Sheed to beat the flakers next year now that we have Jefferson, but with Sheed the Spurs would beat the flakers like a red headed step child.

LOL, pretty sure about that huh? The Sperms need more than Sheed to beat the Lakers. I salute them for getting Jefferson but SA need more younger legs.

Yeah anybody but the Boston Pee Party Celtics. Their Big Oldies are another year older and they showed how desperate they are by having their executives and the Big 3 Oldies fly to Detroit to woo Wallace. I hope he signs with Orlando. Sheed's ego can't take being a back up to KG.
