Red Sox trade hinges on Lowell
According to team sources, the Red Sox aren't going to make a deal for a hitter until they see how Mike Lowell holds up over the final two weeks of July. If they were to make a deal they'd have to dump Mark Kotsay, and they don't want to do that. There's no shortage of options, including Nick Johnson, Chad Tracy, Garrett Atkins, and Victor Martinez. Don't expect anything for the next three weeks.
