Royals-Braves deal in offing?

The Royals have tried to deal 33-year-old Jose Guillen and his righthanded bat, which would be attractive in a few places. Given the Dayton Moore-Braves relationship, there's always the possibility that some kind of swap of outfielders (Jeff Francoeur is a Moore favorite) could be in the wings.

Trade one guy who can't hit for another who can't hit. Sounds like a good deal.

who cares?

they both suck anyway

I keep hoping Frenchy can recapture some magic for his rookie year.. however beginning look like it was a fluke

DO IT!!!! Guillen has never lived up to his billing and a change of venue might just be what Frenchy needs to revitalize his career... Pull the trigger, NOW!

A young guy who could possibly learn to hit consistently SOMETIME in the near future (he's done it before) for an old guy who has forgotten how to hit. Frank Wren, if you pull the trigger on this...

The braves should trade Frank Wren to the Royals. I would love to get two bat boys, a water cooler, and a jock but that asking price may be too high!

Yeah, the other thread is saying just how much Bobby Cox likes attitudes on his team. How does the Globe present this garbage as analysis?

This rumor is very old. Both teams have denied it adomately over the past few weeks. It all stems from an old article that reported seeing a royals scout in Atlanta to watch Francoeur. The fact is that a lot of teams scout a lot of players. There's not a whole lot here. I will say this... As a Royals fan, I would love to see this deal take place. It would clear Guillen's age and his $11 million per year from the Royals' books. Jeff Franceour is only 25 and is making 3.3 million through the end of the 2011 season. Franceour may be nothing more than a fourth outfielder, but he's got the potential and is worth trading waterhead Jose Guillen. At least Jeff might go out there and hustle every play... that would be a a site for sore eyes here in KC.

Also, the Braves and Royals do have a rich history of making deals... even before Dayton came to KC. The Royals have sent veterans Keith Lockhart, Michael Tucker, Octavio Dotel and minor leaguer Eric Cordier for Jermaine Dye, Kyle Davies and Tony Pena Jr. Too bad, the Royals couldn't afford to keep Dye or his outfield teammates of Beltran and Damon. Somehow he ended up with the white sox and we had to watch him win a ring with them and belt out homers here with the pale hose. Its a same to think what might have been with those three guys.

I'd like to see Frenchy stay with the Braves and continue to develop his swing.

The Royals may give the Braves a more talented and younger player. They love to develop players for other teams. Develop players then send to another team, I thought that was what the minors were for, but KC and Pittsburgh love helping out other teams.
