There is a good chance that Stephen Marbury, who got his NBA start with the Wolves and Flip Saunders, will sign with the Wizards, who will be coached by Saunders this year.

I could see that working out.

lol i can c him and Arenas fighting 4 the ball now

So he played for Flip....let see 10 years ago! Sounds like Starbury talking, first he was close with KG in BOSTON, now Flip in WASH, who next

I agree he's just trying to ride coat tails at this point. He left KG and Flip in Minn because he wanted the spotlight.

This could work out.

I'll believe it when I see it, but I'm not going to knock it if it happens. The move really could work out. The Wizards could use Steph as a backup point guard, and if in shape he could play some minutes if and when Gilbert Arenas goes down with an injury.

This is probably the funiest thing I've read so far today. Marbury's ego and Arenas's ego don't fit in the same arena. That's a disaster waiting to happen.

July 6, 2009  09:00 AM ET

The Wiz already have 20 guards on their roster, I understand Marbury and Flip go way back but unless he has grown a foot in the past week, the Wiz really don't need him.

July 6, 2009  09:08 AM ET

Somebody needs to start when Arenas gets injured.

July 6, 2009  09:13 AM ET

Well, at least Marbury and Arenas can have competitions now to see who is the most eccentric.

Get off this site Marburys agent. We all know that the Wizards season is done if they sign him and youre not gonna fool any of us.

July 6, 2009  10:01 AM ET

I wouldn't sign him to wash my car.

July 6, 2009  10:08 AM ET

Whomever signs him- good luck
he's a back-up..... not worth wasting time wondering whether
he'll succeed or not since he;s a part-time player

July 6, 2009  10:19 AM ET

TWO WORDS: IRRELEVANT DUNG.....

July 6, 2009  10:47 AM ET

If all goes well Washington will win less than 19 games... and Celts will make it to the Eastern Confference finals... MARBURY IS IN THE HOUSE! yikes!

July 6, 2009  11:12 AM ET

What happened to wanting to play in Italy??

July 6, 2009  11:33 AM ET

Didn't they make a trade for Randy Foye to back Arenas up?

Marbury doesnt want to shoot the ball anymore-he wants to pass it...

July 6, 2009  11:53 AM ET

Marbury doesn't want to shoot the ball anymore because he can't !!!! I watched him play in Boston this year and good lord he isn't even a shell of his former self. This guy is horrible!!! I know age had something to do with it but sometimes he looked completely scared and completely lost. He was terrible as a backup PG IMO, once the other team realized he was scared $h1tless to shoot the ball all they had to do was play the passing lanes with no fear of him blowing by them..... retire already you nut

Agreed.

"And the #1 pick in the 2010 NBA draft is... the Washington Wizards!"

Certainly this story is legit. After all, who would know what the Wizards are doing better than the Minneapolis Star Tribune I'll believe it when I see the team photo.
