Turns out, Jonas Gustavsson is on holiday in the south of Sweden, attempting to recharge after the death of his mother in May and a recent whirlwind trip to North America, where the free-agent goaltender visited four NHL cities, Toronto, Dallas, Colorado and San Jose. And while Gustavsson wouldn't say where he will land this season, he did tell Sun Media that he expects to make a decision in the next couple of days and that Toronto is high on his list.

Right, like he'd tip his hand and tell the Toronto Sun anything else. I guess they don't make discernment a requirement at schools of journalism.

I'm pretty sure he's going to the Leafs, though. Burkie made a trip to Sweden and he usually gets stuff done when he goes in person.

i would say its a done deal that hes going to leaf land..... burke has definitely put more effort then any other gm that is trying to woo gustavson.... hes probably picking up the cheque on gustavsons hotel room as we speak...lol
i'll give burke credit.... when he wants something he pulls out all the stops.... excluding schenn.... as we have all heard a million times... is untouchable.

He only went so he can talk to the Sedins if they came available, but they didn't so he said he was their to talk to Gustavsson.

As for Gus,can you say bidding war? He's a smart man that Gus.

There is no bidding war. Under the CBA he can only be offered 1 year at about $900,000. He's just taking his sweet time picking a city, since every offer is the same.

By the way Colorado isnt a city, its a state!!! Wish he was coming to the CITY of Denver but with the Anderson sighning (wich I am quite thrilled about) and the Smyth trade, its just not lookin to good for the AVS. By the way wish we would have recieved more back from the Kings for Smyth at least a higher pic thrown in there.

Burke is a clown. He went to Sweden for two reasons...both names 'Sedin'. Too bad he got shafted. He's also a hypocrite (see comments re: Heatly..this from the guy who traded for Mr. Trade Request Pronger). TO deserves the bombastic moron lawyer who lives in Bettman's pocket.

Nicely done.

Why are Swedes so God-damned indecisive?

You are so right. Like when they told the Denver Post that they were still in the running last week, what else would they tell you. I bet theyr gettin pretty nervous in Toronto nowadays. Dont take the Stars lightly, hell of a team and a hell of an organization at this point.

Burke went to Sweden to see the Sedins before July 1st, and had a scheduled meeting with Gustavsson the 3rd. That's it. And, according to his agent, Colorado is off the list, and so is San Jose.
