Girardi calls out Jeter

Yankees icon Derek Jeter made a rookie mistake in his team's 7-6 loss to the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium, and manager Joe Girardi later wasn't afraid to call out his star shortstop. Jeter took a page from the Jose Reyes base-running manual and got nailed attempting to steal third base with nobody out in the first inning. Girardi, who got ejected arguing the call, later referred to the baserunning "errors" the Yankees made in that inning. It was clear he meant Jeter. "The idea is to get to third base, but you have to be safe," Girardi said. "I don't have a problem with the idea of being aggressive there, but you have to make sure you're right and [Jeter] was called out."

Don't get angry with Jeter. Just don't.

He WAS safe. Poor call on the umps part. Jeter DID make sure he was safe. Not his fault the ump was blind....

But I am glad the yanks lost since the sox's bats went anemic again during a smoltz outing...

The manager is in control, except when it involves Jeter!

Sorry, watch the replay. The throw beat him, but he missed the tag.

Doesn't matter.. if the ball beats you there by that much, you're gonna be called out almost all of the time. Poor decision where he got lucky in that the tag was missed even though he was still called out.. it was still a bad play on Jeter's part.

Be careful. Calling out Jeter for a poor decision will result in you being lambasted by throngs of Yankee fans.

I agree. It was just my daily 'support the yankees' statement. It has already passed.

We need some rain, or even the best courses will struggle to keep themselves nice.

We would take about 25% of what you all are/have gotten up there over the past 3 weeks.

How about 6 weeks? We had 24 days of rain in June. We've already had 4 or 5 in July. I'm starting to wish I was a "Muto" like Kevin Costner in Water World.

Good call, he was safe, never tagged...if the ump does not screw up the call, the yanks score that inning on Swishers single, ( although Jeter probably would have scored from second on it )...botttom line it was abad day for the umps in the Bronx
