Nike confiscates tapes of LeBron getting dunked on

It's not every day a college player is invited to the prestigious LeBron James Skills Academy and lays down a dunk on King James himself. That's exactly what Xavier's Jordan Crawford did Monday in Akron, creating an Internet buzz in the process. Crawford jammed a two-handed dunk over the Cleveland Cavaliers forward in a pick-up game at the University of Akron's James A. Rhodes Arena. Looks like he won't have a chance to review the slam, though, since Nike officials reportedly confiscated tapes from media on site. CBSSports.com columnist Gary Parrish wrote that there were at least two cameras shooting the pick-up game and Nike reps allegedly secured the tapes.

How does this happen exactly? Oh well.... it isn't like it doesn't happen during the season anyway.

July 9, 2009  07:40 AM ET

Come on LBJ man up, it happens to everybody at some point in their career. Show the tape!

July 9, 2009  07:51 AM ET

Boooooooooooooooooo! come'on show some sportsmanship.

Something tells me Nike is more concerned about this than LeBron...

Im not so sure, ESPN said it was more on him last night... He shouldn't be such a chump, its not like its going to destroy his image as one of the 2 or 3 best players in the league

Courtney Lee did too!!!

Maybe NIKE had the Men In Black Memory eraser too...this is the DUMBEST thing ive heard, did he get caught w/ a hooker, did he beat his wife? They confiscated tapes because he got dunked on? Maybe next they will confiscate tapes of AROD striking out (that will take hours) or LT fumbling! I like NIKE, but get over yourselves, KING is a nickname, he is not royalty, I like Lebron as well, but C'mon!

July 9, 2009  08:15 AM ET

Too funny. This has more attention now than if Nike had just stayed out of it.

July 9, 2009  08:18 AM ET

I think its funny the golden boy got dunked on booo hoooo. Thats what you get for leaving your team on the court after you lost sucka! Lebron is a young Bill Belichick

July 9, 2009  08:19 AM ET

Are the bad side of Lebron starting to show up? Is his head really getting bigger? Will he believe that he is bigger then the game? Will the "Down to earth and humble" King James ever show up again? Will Lebron continue to show bad sportsmanship? Why is this all happening to Lebron? Only the King can control what he could or could not do. These will all be on Lebron. You can still change Lebron. You can still win the heart of some fans who turned away from you for your bad sportsmanship.

July 9, 2009  08:25 AM ET

Whats up with all these shirts Lebron is wearing? I don't remember Jordan wearing shirts that said MJ MVP, or Check My Stats. They should have just released the tape, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal. He could have just laughed it off. It's not like releasing this tape is going to make Lebron a worse player. When it's all said and done he's still one of the top players in the league, and he will remind everyone of that come next season. The fact that he doesn't want it released I think is far more embarassing then the tape itself.

July 9, 2009  08:26 AM ET

I wonder which shoe company had Jordan Crawford in their pocket. That might be the real reason behind this.

July 9, 2009  08:28 AM ET

Big mistake Lebron...you could have used the tape as great humor. Geez, show some humility.

July 9, 2009  08:29 AM ET

I still can't believed this guy finished second in the defensive player of the year award voting.

All based one one quote "i never give up on a play (even if i obvioulsy foul and refs go no nu*s to call it)".

July 9, 2009  08:30 AM ET

Now I have to say MELO > Lebron

true-

It kinda seems like LBJ has started to believe all the 'hype' that
has been lumped upon him by the media- almost as if he's
entitled to multiple MVP's, championships, etc.....
I think that he HAD handled it very well- but it seems like all the
fame/attention, $$$ has finally started going to his head.

Don't get me wrong- he hasn't turned into Deion Sanders.....
but he does seem to be heading down that path

July 9, 2009  08:33 AM ET

Lebrons career is kinda careening.

July 9, 2009  08:33 AM ET

and how can nike 'confiscate' any tape?
and even if it WAS conifscated-
if people can leak all the steroid stuff in Baseball from the government, you can be sure these tapes will surface

North Korea is going to put them on Homeland Security's website.

Yup saw something like this coming though. Right after Stern decides NOT to fine him for not doing a post-game interview, oh and then backtracking. He's getting royal treatment from the media, refs and Stern too. Now this is NOT a debate about his skills or work ethics or any of it. Basketball aside, I think there are clear signs of Lebron as a player, as an ambassador dropping down.
Ok Yao got blocked by Nate. That was a GREAT video to watch. Does that dimish Yao in any manner?
CWebb dunked on Barkley. That was fascinating. And none of the accomplishments of either players got hurt.
Sorry to say, this is just Lebron trying to be a punk. The past 4-5 yrs, I've harping about Lebron being better than Kobe (off the court), but maybe not. $$$ gets to everyone's head I guess. Rest assured, I'm going to root for ORL or BOS in the east next season. Sorry Shaq!
