Jacobs: Romo's not that good

05:39 AM ET 07.10 | Tony Romo has endured his share of critics this offseason: Terence Newman, Terrell Owens, and uh, Eminem. It's time to add Brandon Jacobs to the list. In an interview with Brandon Tierney on ESPN 1050 in New York, the enjoyably honest Giants running back admitted he's not impressed with the Cowboys starter. "I don't think he's that good a passer, to be honest with you," Jacobs said. Jacobs believes that Romo can't survive as a pure pocket passer. Much of Romo's success comes while improvising on the run. "I'm not a fan of Tony Romo, no. Keep him in the pocket, he's not that good. . . . His luck will be gone sooner or later. If you were to keep Tony Romo in the pocket he's not that effective."

A Giants RB doesn't like a Cowboys QB. Wake me up when FN has something newsworthy to report.

This is Romo's make or break year. Personally at this point, I don't think he's as good as he or Jerry Jones thinks either. But I do think he has the potential to be. I just don't think he has the commitment or determination to get that good.

Didn't know this was a secret..

July 10, 2009  07:25 AM ET

Romo is a lot better than many other quarterbacks out there. Don't know why he get's "beat up" so much.

Brandon, Brandon, jeesh! Just carry the ball and shut up. I would not like to see the face Coughlin makes when he hears about this..I wouldn't answer the phone today..

July 10, 2009  07:42 AM ET

Eminem????? ... wow

July 10, 2009  07:50 AM ET

This would have been more newsworthy if Jessica had said it.

July 10, 2009  07:51 AM ET

Brandon just did an excellent job of revealing the Giants' strategy against the Cowboys.

Of course, for those of us who watched the second half of the 2008 playoff game, this isn't some great revelation.

Jacobs needs to focus on staying healthy. Such a big man, so fragile.

July 10, 2009  07:56 AM ET

More in info on the news this morning about the Ware/Ellis thread from yesterday. Ware stated that he was just trying to stay hydrated. What I don't understand is Ellis plays on the other side of the defense. Spencer would have to take plays off, not Ware. Very strange, but what about the Cowboys isn't?

All you have to do is cover Witten.... then Romo gets sacked...

We shall find out. Hope they don't cover Felix Jones.

I hate the cowboys, but this is funny they talked about this on nfl live yesterday and jacobs was completely wrong, his passer rating was like 90.8 in the pocket and 67.0 out of the pocket. So maybe jacobs should shut up and run the ball.

July 10, 2009  08:10 AM ET

This just in as well ---

Eli Manning defines average.

July 10, 2009  08:14 AM ET

As a life-long Cowboys fan, I soooo wish that Jones had traded Romo for Cutler... then bring in Shanahan..

Pat Bowlen - what in the world were you thinking???

Romo is just a fun nice guy... but the Cowboys need a little more attitude and leadership at QB... I see Cutler becoming much more like Aikman than Romo ever will...

The problem is we all want to compare QBs to others who have had success. Romo needs to be Romo and not Aikman. I'm a Cutler fan also but we all know Jerry Jones wasn't going to make that move.

Romo has been Romo and has clearly shown that he is decent, but doesn't have what it takes to lead this team to a title... I use Aikman as a model of who a true leader is... and not just because he was a Cowboy as well...

tell us something we don't know.
