Three-team deal including Boozer & Hinrich?

Several people with knowledge of the Bulls' situation downplayed an ESPN.com report claiming the Bulls had engaged in substantive talks on a three-team deal involving Utah and Portland that would land them All-Star power forward Carlos Boozer. The report had Kirk Hinrich going to Portland and Tyrus Thomas moving to Utah. While Utah is gauging the trade market on Boozer, trading Hinrich from a thin backcourt without getting a guard in return makes little sense.

Is Jerry Sloan coming back?

What Chicago need is Loul Deng from that injury free contract year.

While it may seem logical and even (not considering 1on1 value) ...

CHI has already sign Pargo, their backcourt would look really thin without Hinrich. for the other teams; Utah only gets Tyrus contract, wich is a third of Boozer, so they can spend on Millsap; But I doubt POR would let that happen, they would instead try to sign Millsap and then use a MLE to try to attract Miller, who would accept just like Ariza with HOU, because is upset with PHI.

This deal makes sense for all 3 teams in terms of player needs. Chicago needs a low post player and Boozer will be the perfect fit. Utah knows that they are going to lose Boozer anyways and that's why they are getting the young and energetic Tyrus Thomas in return. Portland gets a veteran PG/shooting guard in Heinrich which part of what Portland needs. I don't know how the salary works after all of these.

If they can get Boozer the Bulls can do some real damage this year.

yes this makes sense for all involved boozer is what d rose needs to truelly become da best pg bulls i thought blew it by not doing a sign and trade wit detroit now if this actually happens we have to go after a.i yo he cut them braids man hes out to prove theres no I in team and we have to make up for bg departure plus hes on da cheap go for broke and if it fails blow it up next year

Interesting deal, but I am curious to know what Portland has to give up to make this happen?

July 10, 2009  09:33 AM ET

This trade makes perfect sense for Utah as they will get rid of Boozer's 12 mil for Tyrus Thomas' rookie contract. Bulls get a bonafide all star. But this trade doesn't make any sense for Portland. If they absorb Heinrich's 30 million contract they can't make an offer to Millsap, Miller or Lee. It'll also hurt their 2010 salary cap and it aint like Heinrich is better than any of the point guards they already have...

If the Jazz do this are they sure its a win for them on there end though?

July 10, 2009  09:38 AM ET

maybe they'll do a sign and trade when portland signs millsap.

July 10, 2009  09:41 AM ET

Hinrich would be a real nice fit for the Blazers.

July 10, 2009  09:59 AM ET

I'm scared the Bulls are giving up too much for Boozer. Just send Tyrus and Tim Thomas to Utah for Boozer straight up. Tim comes off the books after this season, just like Boozer would have, and they have Tyrus to develop at 1/3 of Boozer's cost. I don't understand why Portland is so hot for Millsap when they have Aldridge. If the Lakers can get Gasol for Kwame Brown, anything is possible.

no way noah is everything a center should be he comands da paint defensivelly and keeps it 100 ur pf should be the scorer

July 10, 2009  10:29 AM ET

boozer = overrated

July 10, 2009  10:33 AM ET

I'd make this trade in a heartbeat! Boozer is one of the top 5 PF in the game stat wise. He's as talented as everyone on the roster except for Rose. However if we were gonna trade for Boozer we should have kept Gordon so we would have that inside/outside combo. We should have trade that supremely overpaid Luol and Hinirch. Paxson is the NBA's Matt Millen of GM/s

This trade make sense, but the Bulls need to get a comment that Boozer will sign a long term deal or a contract signed before executing this transaction. However, in theory acquiring Boozer give the Bulls a strong starting 5. Something they haven't had in a long time. Hinrich to Portland is definitely an upgrade at PG. He does everything well.
