09:27 AM ET 07.10 | Jan Stephenson, the LPGA Hall of Famer, was driving to a business meeting in Tampa, Fla., earlier this week when her phone starting buzzing. "I was getting texts like crazy, and I was like, 'Wow, what has happened?'" Stephenson said. As it turned out, a small group of elite LPGA players had called for the resignation of their hard-charging commissioner, Carolyn Bivens. But Stephenson's friends were doing more than just alerting her of the news. "They were all like, 'This is your chance to be commissioner,'" Stephenson recalled. Commissioner Jan Stephenson? "I would absolutely love that job," the 57-year-old Australian confirmed Thursday from her Florida office.

She couldn't do any worse than Bivens and as a former player, she would know how to talk with the current players, something Bivens obviously never bothered to learn. Also, I still remember that Sport magazine cover 30 years ago. Give her the job.

Really? Do some background work folks! Here's a quote from a recent article: "Until recently, Jan Stephenson was known mostly for once being an overrated glamour star on the LPGA Tour. Now, in the great tradition of Vijay Singh, she's opened her mouth one too many times. By telling Golf Magazine that she thinks Asians are "killing" the women's tour, she took her ignorance to a new level." Since the LPGA just signed a huge contract with a Korean cable company, and has so many prominent Koreans and Asians, why would you want to sabotage the LPGA with this?
