07:59 AM ET 07.14 | Victor Martinez, given his choice, would retire wearing an Indians uniform. "I can't see myself in another uniform," said Martinez, during Monday's media session for American League All-Stars. "We'll see what happens." The Indians hold a $7 million club option on Martinez for 2010. After that he's a free agent. It would take a lot for the Indians to trade him, but the rumors are out there and they're persistent.

QUOTE(#2):

Of course he is going to say that, he is being the good soldier! He wants out! He does not to continue his career on a team that has cheap ownership, lousy/horrible pitching, low fan attendance, and a team that has zero help on the way to help create a winner! If not this year, he and Cliff Lee will definetly be gone by the July, 2010 trade deadline!

Or he's just one of those guys that don't care much about winning as long as he's getting paid and his family is settled and comfortable.

That has to be the reason............guess he likes being with a loser!

Yeah, much like Peavy winning is not the main concern.

You mean he's a normal person? I don't know about you, but I understand if a guy wants to settle his family somewhere, rather than chasing a championship around the country. Most people are like that (do you move from city to city in search of the best Accounting jobs?).

I know he's an athlete, and this is obviously all speculative, but I don't think its such a bad thing to put your family before baseball.

We're that good that are best player can't even be identified by the press.

I can agree with that for the most part but for an athlete who gets to this level there has to be some competitive fire and will to win. And I think all athletes should have a goal of winning it all at least once before going complacent. Family is the most important thing but if you do something for a living you should always strive to be the best not just for yourself but as a role model for your children.

How old is Victor anyway 31 or something. You would thinks he sees the writing on the wall regarding Clevelands chances next couple of years and go to a winning situation. But can't fault a guy for wanting to stay where's he and his family are comfortable and hell I'd take 7mil to live in Cleveland for a year or two....

They've had some good success since Victor has been an Indian. It's been a rough go this year, but a little bullpen help and they'll be contenders next year.

I'm not sure you're fully aware of Cleveland's chances for the next couple of years.
