07:13 AM ET 07.16 | After his Twitter shut down because of too many responses, former Blackhawks forward Martin Havlat still needed to be heard. So he set the record straight with Darren Dreger of TSN in Canada. Here's some of the juicier things Havlat had to say about the Dale Tallon firing and the Blackhawks' front office: "My negotiation with Chicago was not between Dale and my agent, it was between Dale and McDonough. Why? Because McDonough couldn't stand that Dale was so successful and getting the credit for building the Hawks from a last place team to making the Conference Final in three short years. Remember, we were also the youngest team in the NHL last year. I was too closely identified with Dale. McDonough knew long ago he was going to fire Dale. He wanted someone he could claim as his own He wanted to stand up at the convention and claim credit for signing this guy or that guy."

They are going to be losing some of their starts in the next couple of years due to poor management and not sending out contracts in time. Hope you enjoy your time in the sun, it will be short.

sorry I am late on this spiny. I was in a donnybrook here yesterday and didn't get a chance to post. I will accept the nomination and I must thank you for considering my humble being. Now let's take the gloves off and get to work.

Agreed....I hope the Blackhawks make a serious Cup run next year, because I have a feeling it is going to be their last solid chance for a few years. The salary cap is going to come a-knockin....

I feel no pain for these Hawks. Whether or not the new showrunners there like Tallon, firing a GM who just put together a team that went to the Conference Finals is ridiculous to me. Obviously Scotty Bowman had a hand in this happening, there are just too many tracks for it to not be so, but come on. Sure, Tallon made a mistake with the Campbell signing, but the jury's still out on Huet till he gets his shot to start this season. The FA snafu is a mistake, but its not like he had to pay Versteeg and Barker a major premium to make up for it. I think this is a stupid move, and that's nothing against his replacement, the younger Bowman.

If the Hawks aren't careful they'll ruin everything they are in the process of building. When your team MVP and high scorer leaves trashing the team management - AFTER having said he would have liked to stay there, you know you have an issue with class in the brass. This is the kind of reputation Brian Burke is trying to rid the Leafs organization of because it makes it tougher to sign free agents and it makes the organization look trashy. As a Wings fan, I have no issues seeing the Hawks start stumbling, but as a hockey fan, I hope they get their shyte together.

Hawks will win their division next year

With the Cap going down around $10 million, the Hawks will be in big trouble since they gotta sign Toews, Kane and Keith. But the Pens, Flyers and Wings are also in big trouble.

Exactly...although I have a lot of faith in Ray Shero handling the salary cap well for the Penguins. We got Guerin, Adams, and Fedotenko with hometown discounts, dumped some of the salaries that were going to hurt us (Scuderi and Gill), and managed to keep most of the core. Will we probably have to say goodbye to a couple players next year? Sure...but I don't think it's anything that's going to be catastrophic.

I think people are seeing what they want to see and making this a bigger story than it is. Tallon screwed up big time and it will cost one or two of those prized young players (who again hopefully the Leafs will jump on). Not only the mailing debacle but 3 terrible signings may ultimately be Tallons legacy in Chi town.

I personally hope the team is able to overcome these and not pay too badly. I went to a Hawks game last year and the atmosphere was amazing, but thats what happens when a team sucks for 15yrs and turns it around quickly. Hopefully this does not lead to another 15yr drought.

How can we now pull this off?
Can't we all send a petition to Herr Midget?

Message to Havlet: You play for Minnesota now. Worry about your own team. You were offered a one-year deal here and turned it down. You wanted something longer and got it there. Focus on playing well for the Wild.

July 16, 2009  12:08 PM ET

" Because McDonough couldn't stand that Dale was so successful and getting the credit for building the Hawks from a last place team to making the Conference Final in three short years. " Quote from above.
That can be as little as two or three wins. How many division or President trophy winners fail to make the finals every year. Nothing is decided until the second season.

It all comes down to that inept egomaniac MLB guy: Mac Doughnut! I???m glad Havlat is setting the record straight. Time for the truth to come out!

Havlat will be a huge loss to the young Blackhawks! He fit like a glove with the kids. The chemistry was there and he was mesmerizing at times, especially on the PP. If Mc Doughnut thinks Hossa is a suitable replacement for Havlat, he's dreaming!

I???ll miss him in the Windy City!

As a Wings fan, I'm not concerned. I just don't buy that they'll win it, they've still got a lot to learn. They are better set up to make a run at the division, that is true. But they are going to start Huet (unless he losing it again, this time to Crawford), and he'll need to get his shyte together.

As for the future of the Hawks, what seem like a bright one is a little murky. These contracts, while they will help them this year, are going to hurt them down the line. This offseason seems more like an impatient "all in" instead of the patient rebuilding they have been doing.

The cap is "going to come a-knockin" for every team, not just the 'hawks. They'll be fine. Sure, they'll lose someone, no not Toews, Kane, Barker, Keith, but others, but that's the normal part of doing business. Every team is going to feel the pinch.

This just in from the Head Office ...The NHL wants the Hawks to do well.....therefore due to the signing blunder, the cap will go up next year.
