Army and Notre Dame have reached a deal to meet in 2010 at Yankee Stadium, multiple Army sources have confirmed. The 2010 game won't be the end of Army playing in the new ballpark in the Bronx. According to one source, Army will host one game against undetermined opponents at Yankee Stadium in the 2011, '12 and '13 seasons. Sources said Army is expected to announce more details early next week at a news conference, which could be held at Yankee Stadium.

Cool. Glad to see the Yanks were amendable to football being played at the Stadium. I like this idea.

Nice to see Notre Dame is taking their impressive ability to beat our nation's military academies on an annual basis. Maybe they can play Southeastern Tennessee Tech in the Colosseum in 2010.

People like you have no understanding of college football history. It's all about "today." Too bad, you've really missed out on a lot...

To me, this appears to be about the new Yankee stadium whoring for revenue. Football in a built-for-baseball stadium when there's a built-for-football stadium just across the river? Well, if the NY fans want to see it, so be it.

I know it won't happen, but I wish TN could get one of those games. I'd love to see them play in Yankee Stadium.

July 17, 2009  10:43 AM ET

I like how Notre Dame has been trying to schedule some "tradition" type games lately. Army, Texas, Oklahoma, Miami...makes for fun football matchups. At least they arent scheduling Div 2 teams like Ohio St

So CFB scheduling issues CAN be resolved merely by leaking to T&A message boards.
I hope Army improves a bit by 2010. They do have a great history-- all-time record 636-449-51.

maybe charlie weis and his hugh jass think the food at the new yankee stadium is great.

TN vs. ND in Yankee Stadium...? They have had some "classic" battles over the years...!

July 17, 2009  11:04 AM ET

Tennesse and ND just had a 2 game series within the past 5 years where ND went 2-0. I doubt that will happen within the next 10 years.

they don't play nearly as often as I'd like cause I'd love to have ND vs TN more. Outside of UCLA I think ND is probably the major OOC team TN plays the most often.

This isn't based on anything but what I'm thinking so I may be wrong, but I've always enjoyed their games.

July 17, 2009  11:15 AM ET

if this was 50 years ago, maybe this would be newsworthy, but unfortunately neither of these teams are at all relevant

July 17, 2009  11:30 AM ET

Tennessee has played ND 8 times in the past 4 decades. The record stands at 4 - 4.

I do actually agree. ND has pciked up recruiting in Tennessee as well (Golden Tate, Harrison Smith) so this would be a good thing for them. Plus two great teams and traditions.

July 17, 2009  11:34 AM ET

Yeah, but where will the NAVY game be that year?

July 17, 2009  11:39 AM ET

My favorite ND vs UTK game took place at South Bend in 1991. In the fourth quarter, ND scored a touchdown and extra point to go up 34 to 14. Everyone - the fans, the coaches, the players, the announcers were celebrating sealing a ND victory with that score. With 7&1/2 minutes remaining, the Vols shut down ND and scored 21 unanswered points to win the game. Afterwards, those in orange and white joined those in blue and gold for prayers in the chapel... you've got to appreciate the unique experiences at ND.

Wanna bet Yankee Stadium will be full to the rafters for this game...? Do you think that would happen if Yankee Stadium hosted Army vs. whatever team you follow...? I didn't think so...

It was a great game TM (although painful for us ND fans). Those kinds of games are the ones you never forget no matter which side you were pulling for...

It should be an easy win for an Urban coached team!
