06:22 AM ET 07.24 | There have been all sorts of college recruiting rumors involving top-ranked Seantrel Henderson of Cretin-Derham Hall, but the 6-8, 300-pound lineman doesn't plan to determine his final-five list of colleges until just before school starts this fall. Don't be surprised, though, if Notre Dame isn't on it.

Looks like the luster of those rings has worn off and has been replaced by the term "Over-rated"...

So who all is making a serious play for the kid? What's his projected "A" list? Since this was in a St Paul paper, does that mean the Gophers are a contender? Also, "lineman" covers 7 - 8 positions. Is he OL or DL? At 300 lbs, I assume he's not a DE?

Gophers are a contender along with Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma & UCLA peer Scout. #1 OL (assume tackle) prospect so quite a catch.

It would be hard to believe that Henderson wouldn't have Notre Dame in the top 5...Michael Floyd, one of Notre Dame's top receivers - went to the same high school, and I believe they are related in some way (cousins?).

I'm not saying this guy is a Notre Dame lock...but I believe they are in his Top 5. Then again...I never thought Te'o would have went to ND over USC, so...

Who would want to play for Charlie Weis?? Even "Touchdown Jesus" is thinking about transferring to another school

July 24, 2009  09:35 AM ET

what's this about a 6'8 300 lb cretin playing for them? doesn't weis himself fit that description?

he and his son threw out the first pitch at yankee stadium the other day and I was amazed at how fat he looked in a suit. he makes CC sabathia look like an anorexic midget.

If he's the #1 OL I'm surprised Tenn isn't after him. We have holes on the OL, among other places.

This is just the same old T&R with another ND story.
Sure, I'd want to have him play for "my team" but he can do whatever he wants to, after all he's the overall #1 recruit in the country.

ND has had a good number of kids come from Cretin-Derham Hall, Henderson would be a HUGE get. Good luck to all the schools that are after him. I'd bet he stays home & picks Minn.

He is not only the #1OL... But the #1 HS* according to rivals...Maybe he doesnt want to compete with Weiss for meals... But IMO he should highly consider ND because of the degree factor as well

Why would any top recruit consider ND? It's a program in free fall and just about to be looking for a new coach. Unless you're enamored of living in middle of nowhere in bad weather surrounded by delusional fans and alums.

July 24, 2009  10:56 AM ET

why is this news. a top recruit is going to leave Notre Dame off their top 5 list? If this is a story every time, wouldn't there be hundreds of these stories?

I would say the same thing about the USC basketball program...

Someone needed to say it.

If he is the number 1 recruit in the 2010 class, degrees don't mean much when compared to the possibility of an NFL career.

No one cares about basketball. But you're right. And the result is that SC has exactly one bball player remaining from last year's squad.

Charlie Weis is not the most personable guy on the planet. He behaves aloofly, speaks arrogantly on any subject he is broaching and, in general, rubs allot of recruits and their parents the wrong way. This post reporting that there is a top recruit, who is surrounded by rumors and who may not have Notre Dame on his top five list is yet an another example of how endearing Charlie can be. - Would there be enough training table for a 6'-8" 300-lb teen and Charlie if this guy ended up going to ND?

As an ND fan who (last year) thought he was a lock, this is actually about 3 month old news.

But who knows with these kids, the flop on where they want to go all the time. Either that or we disect every word they say too much

Offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson told ESPN affiliate Web site GatorCountry.com, "Florida, USC and Ohio State... its going to be one of those three. They play for championships and they put a lot of people in the NFL."
