06:55 AM ET 07.27 | With Lou Williams, Jrue Holiday and Willie Green the only full-fledged guards on the roster, 76ers president/general manager Ed Stefanski is continuing his search for a veteran. A source familiar with the situation confirmed some early contact concerning Atlanta Hawks unrestricted free agent Ronald "Flip" Murray (a Philadelphia native who played at Strawberry Mansion High), but said that Murray's agent is looking for more than a 1-year commitment.

He is good with what he brings to the court ... but he is no Miller substitute and he shouldnt be seing as that ... he would produce a lot within their running system ... thus not as much as if Miller were there.

Forget Odom Lakers need to sign flip and bust out with this trade http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nfxorc
Fisher can be bought out and return. Both Milwaukee and Washington shed some huge salaries..

Green is an answer for the shooting guard position but not for the PG. Maybe the Sixers should bring AI back? The other PG that's still out there is Ramon Sessions. Lou Williams is not a true PG also and he plays more like Jet Terry and Flip.

QUOTE(#4):

Flip Murray isn't Andre Miller but Flip's not a bad player. The Sixers are going to take a step back without Miller but at least bringing in Flip would be an improvement over Louis Williams who is not a true point guard.

agreed....but if Elton Brand can come back and play close to the level he did 3 years ago then they might be a team to reckon with....

Oh man I wish my Hawks can re-sign Murray. He was great off the bench (kinda like a Ben Gordon-lite). Hawks bench needs him, we are going to suffer heavily without Murray's instant offense.

I agree too-
while I'm not sayig they're winning a title....
they certainly have good pieces to make noise-
They will sorely miss Miller- unless some of the kids
step up big time.....

Who is lil Flip??, j/k Elton Brand is not coming back to the high level of play he played a couple years ago. HE may give you 12pt 10 next season but he wont be the consistant 20pt 10. his good basketball is behind him

oh I disagree-
maybe not 20 - 10.....
but if he's even ON the court he's getting 16+ & 10 - EASY-
Low Post scorers don't need to be physically perfect.
His game was never about athleticism

This is one of those debates you are just going to have to watch and see, I dont think he will even crack 10 reb per game next season, I say even being healthy which I dont think he will be next season he may give you 12 to 14 ppg and 8 reb

yup- we'll see-
but it all boils down to whether he's healthy or not

Brand has the game to put up the numbers but the system philly played with last year couldnt utilize his talents...Why get this guy if you're not going to use him properly???

sixers fans know that this is not the case.

willie green is a backup sg. how many teams in the nba get 8.5 ppg from their starting sg? probably not many.

as the roster stands now, iguodala should get the majority of the minutes at 2.
