Some drivers want speedometers

08:05 AM ET 08.01 | Penalized at the Brickyard for speeding on his final pit stop Sunday, Juan Pablo Montoya missed out on a chance for victory. The outcome might have been different if Montoya had had a speedometer instead of relying on a tachometer, which monitors engine revolutions per minute. Or maybe he would have finished 11th anyway. Still, some drivers would like speedometers added to their cars or to have the electronic timing system that records pit-road speeds refined to cut down on possible error.

Hmmmm might smell better than getting soaked with Coke after the race by your team because you had to pee in the car.
Not sure why they not come up with at least a pee bag but could you imagine getting caught up in the big wreak at Daytona and getting a pee bag in the side of the head at 200mph?
Getting interviewed after wards soaked in pee that might not even be yours?

Soon they'll be wanting AC in the cars along with a GPS to tell them when to turn and where the pit road enterance is

Jr. needs a GPS to find his pit. Sorry, but Wildfan created that opening and I had to take advantage of it. Not hating, just saying. LOL

How about turn signals & side view mirrors? Maybe NASCAR could mandate those cute little directional lights that SUVs have on their side views?

At least they aren't asking for the 'press to pass' button like the Indy is starting to use.

They don't put speedos in the car for a reason. The drivers don't want them. This story was written by the AP, not a real good source of information. "The tachometer monitors engine revolutions per minute", REALLY we didn't know that part! Dumb, dumb and dumb.

Here's an idea, how about they actually race "stock" cars?
Anyway I still hold my opinion that last weekend was a screwjob.

Yeah, it's called racing, but they have speed limits on pit road.

If they are going to be hold the drivers to speed limits, then give them speedometers, and allow the crew chiefs the ability to monitor the speed of the car on pit road. Currently, the crew chiefs can monitor the car speed anywhere on the track, except for pit road. If not, then remove pit road speed limits. They are stupid anyway on a race track. If someone gets killed, great, it will get the event in the news. Tell me that Dale Sr.'s death wasn't the best thing that ever happend to NASCAR. They rode that wave all the way to the COW, the Chase, and the Recession.

Rickapolis...you had to say his name didn't you LOL
Kodiak...thanks for that gross pee image LOL
JPM is not the only driver that got a good finish screwed up by pit road speeding and he won't be the last.......the easiest solution is to have the crew chief have one so he can guide the driver.....JPM (and others in the past) was headed for a win and we all know how much difference a win makes.....just ask Jr...or Mikey (that one was for you Kodiak)
