For the first time this summer Allen Iverson has received an offer close to his liking, just not from an NBA team. Olympiacos is reportedly close to proposing a two-year contract worth $10 million to Iverson, the exact same deal that Nate Robinson turned down. The main competition in the NBA for Olympiacos is the Miami Heat and New York Knicks.

This would be a bad move. Something tells me AI can still score in the NBA. Detroit was just a bad situation.

Europe will love AI's brand of "Me, Me, & Me" basketball...

August 4, 2009  08:09 AM ET

It would be sad to see a player of AI's caliber go and end his career overseas. I believe there's still something left in the tank.

Under the right circumstances he could still be an effective weapon on an NBA team. He must at least be well rested after last season.

He should go, he is a fallen star that doesnt want to play within the "team" concept and is not willing to accept a lesser role thinking he is still a starter in the NBA when he clearly is not.

Talk about a pay cut $ 20m > $ 5m I wonder if AI would last one season with Olympiacos

Talk about a fall from grace. I mean, Nate Robinson is a decent player but, have Allen Iverson's skills and value (commercial value) to a team dropped so drastically that he is now seen as being equal value to Nate Robinson?

Then again, I wouldn't mind being at the tail-end of my career and earning $5 million a year.

That being said, A.I. probably has enough money. It's time he sucked it up so he can win a ring.

Who cares he's been getting 17m+ for how many years, AI don't need any $$.. He's set.

This is the first time that I heard of, that a major NBA Superstar, finishing his career over-seas!! Talk about being shipped out!!

Most people would agree with you but, since apparently 60% of NBA players go bankrupt five years after they retire, that's no guarantee.

Technically, that is not true since footballers (soccer players) do that all the time.

Yes, I know the nature of football (soccer) is completely different from the nature of North American sports. That being said, in the majority of the world, a major athlete finishing his career outside his home country is not all that unusual.

Understandable!! But like I said......NBA Superstar!!

August 4, 2009  08:42 AM ET

he's just going there for practice, just practice man, just practie...

The problem is the 'right circumstance' is him accepting a
role as a 6th man & coming off the bench-
to which HE has flat out rejected
So until he accepts that....there is no good fit for him

He's either going to not play or play on an AWFUL team
- no way he's going to go overseas-

Bye

August 4, 2009  08:46 AM ET

Yeah, Euro-ball is all about jacking up 35 shots/game and failing to work at practice. He is a natural fit.

Ha ha ha I completely missed the "NBA Superstar" part.

I fail to agree with you!! Euro-ball is all about "Team Concept", and practice for them is vital!! The crowd/fans there are much more hostile, and if you don't produce, they will definately let you know, mentally and sometimes physically!!

I thought Iverson would be a decent option off the bench in Boston to spell Rondo. Then i realize my theory is flawed because i said 'off the bench'.

Nique went to Greece and collected a HUGE paycheck, remember?

Stand corrected!! Anyone else?!?

He's at the point in his career where he would be a perfect fit for the Knicks.
