Owens: Jerry Jones ran for the woods

06:36 AM ET 08.11 | Terrell Owens no longer is in Dallas, of course, and the explanation for that depends on whom you talk to. "Hey, I didn't see him as a distraction, not intentionally," a Cowboys official said. "But he was in the sense that every time something happened, it became a distraction. And whether there was truth to it or not, the distractions had their affect." The belief in Dallas was, by the time the offseason started, Jason Garrett and Owens no longer could co-exist. And when Garrett failed in his attempt to land the St. Louis Rams head coaching job ended, Owens' tenure in Dallas was all but done. Yet, Owens found comfort in a strong relationship with owner Jerry Jones, a trust he felt was violated when the Cowboys released him in early March. Asked to explain, Owens repeated himself: "Jerry, you ran for the woods."

T.O. needs to move on from the cowboys

August 11, 2009  06:50 AM ET

Ran for the woods? What does that even mean?

agreed. But he won't. He's going to keep making comments to keep his name in the spotlight.

It's amazing how many people in the NFL "Run for the Woods" after spending a little time around T.O.

Yep. He's making as many ridiculous comments as possible these days. The old "any publicity is good publicity" tactic. It's not going to work as far as attracting me to his show, that's for sure.

August 11, 2009  07:27 AM ET

Jerry did not run for the woods, with his money he had them moved to him.

Wouldn't you? I would. Time to duct tape that big mouth of his.

And then turned them into a billion dollar stadium.

I still don't get why TO is still being asked about, and is talking about Dallas? How long has it been now?
This reminds of a guy in a bar kissing all over some girl (Buffalo) while staring over her shoulder at the girl he really wants (Dallas). What's he doing? Trying to make Dallas jealous? My gosh, I've been a fan of the NFL for a long time and have never seen anything like this.

August 11, 2009  07:58 AM ET

He Bills Front Office: Watch that shelf life on TO. He has two year max before he turns sour. It could be one year if he doesn't do well. Doesn't matter if you win or not. He has to do very well. Throw him every ball even on running plays.

Nice analogy.

Every news clip has a comment about "his teammates in Dallas". What about his teammates in Buffalo? Any thoughts on them?

Be gone...

August 11, 2009  08:04 AM ET

Ah it's been at least a few weeks since TO's been in the spotlight.

Wasn't he telling Roger Goodell to spend 2 years in prison last week?

August 11, 2009  08:07 AM ET

This should bring the bugs out of the woods today. record number of post for sure.

Yes, like sand through an hourglass, these are the days of our lives.

I know...Even on the sidelines Sunday night with Andrea Kramer, he did the same thing. It wasn't "my old teamates in Dallas" or "my ex teamates in Dallas", it was "well, my teamates in Dallas know what type of teamate I am", blah blah blah...

Huge Cowboy fan here who just got back from Training camp and although Roy looked good, I'm really afraid that we will miss TO on the field. Now, compared to training camp last year, there was a huge sense of "calmness" and "fun" that I didn't see last year. All the crap, including Hard Knocks, Greg Ellis, Tank, Pacman, is gone and you could really tell the difference.

August 11, 2009  08:09 AM ET

Damn, TO can't you shut your piehole and move on already? no one from Big D cares anylonger. stop crying and man up.
