11:01 AM ET 08.12 | Over her career, [Dinara] Safina has continually fallen short on the Grand Slam stage. Safina has reached the championship match in three Grand Slams but has lost all of them -- the past two French Opens and this year's Australian Open. Safina's brother, Marat Safin, spoke in defense of her against those who've criticized Safina's top ranking. "She spends so much time on court. I think she is more professional than all the other players together," Safin said after his match in the Rogers Cup Monday night in Montreal. "Nobody believed that she was going to be No.1 in the world. Nobody believed that she'd be in the top 10. So look where she is now." "A lot of people are giving her trouble, okay, she's No. 1 in the world but she never won a Grand Slam. It gets tough on her but she's there. She's fighting, she's trying ... I'm really proud that she's holding up herself even though they are rough on her."
