07:34 AM ET 08.24 | The No. 1-ranked player in the 2010 class, Harrison Barnes eliminated the University of Minnesota while cutting his final list to six schools, according to reports Sunday. Barnes, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound wing from Ames High School in Iowa, narrowed his choices down to hometown Iowa State, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA and Oklahoma. His first two official visits are expected to be to North Carolina and Duke in the fall.

Chapel Hill is a great place. I'm just saying...

Good list, it's almost can't lose for the kid.

FIU???

Seems like a good kid. Good list, includes the Hometown school which is a classy move, if he is not just leading them on. I love the fact that he doesn't list a school that no one has ever heard of. Like he wants to go somewhere and be the savior of the program. It seems he really has knowledge of the history of a Duke, UNC, UCLA, Kansas plus the recognition of a program on the rise in Oklahoma.

All I'm saying is that the Hill is where the Thrill is, and is currently NCAA Basketballs Titletown,USA.

Amen to that

He will be in UNC unless Coach k or B. Self pull off a recruiting move like buy his dad a tractor or get his mother a job. J/k flashback of the movie blue chips....

I hope he comes to UNC. If he does, we may have another chance for a championship considering ed davis and Zeller stay w/ this years incoming class.

It seem like Kentucky and UNC has so much talent they reload and have a chance for a title every year.

I'll take it, but I need to inform you that with a small slums slab that you probably own that is probably decorated with used needles, boxes of unused condoms, and empty six packs of Zima, I'll most likely use a blower and just open both doors and your one window and let it rip.

You Stay Classy!

Great kid with tremendous skills and a lot of character. As much backlash as I may get, don't discount the home team. McDermott is a first class coach and has developed Craig Brackins to a player that has competed against the best in the Big 12 and will most likely be a lottery pick by season's end as a junior. His dad, Ron, put ISU on the map in the 80's. Point being, his top 6 is solid and the kid can't go wrong with his decision.

You give him to much credit. He already swaps oral pleasures from the homeless guy beside him for his maid service

Did you stumple in here from the Jerry Springer show or are you just ABC. Recent research explains how people use the internet for mind/emotion dump. I hope your useless remarks do help you from kicking your dog. Dean Smith is a great man even if you exclude his being a basketball coach.

August 26, 2009  11:27 AM ET

His most likely choice will be KU. At KU he will be able to play at one of the top 5 programs in the country and play at Iowa St. once a year in front of his friends and family. Who wouldn't wand that?

August 26, 2009  03:04 PM ET

Go to Duke and put a little more zing back into the Durham v Chapel Hill rivalry. I am getting tired of premature NCAA departures!

August 26, 2009  04:38 PM ET

Kansas and Duke are reportedly the front runners. Have been for some time. One other thing to look at is that Kyrie Irving's friends have reportedly said Barnes is trying to convince Irving to join him at Duke. He will not be announcing until after his basketball season.

Wow. That was witty. How did you come up with that, and how long did it take you? Your brilliance is stunning. I can't believe we didn't run into each other at Cornell.

it seems like everyone who is posting on this forum doesn't know a ton about Barnes. he plays the cello, has an extremely high GPA, and comes from a very good family. the kid sounds like shane battier's long lost brother. Duke is by far the strongest school academically on his list, no matter how you feel about their basketball program. it would make sense that they would have the overall edge.
