Players unhappy with Barclays course

07:23 AM ET 08.26 | With exclusive Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City as its stage, this week's Barclays will feature breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty and Verrazano Bridge. But what of the golf course itself? Is the picture frame more impressive than the actual painting? Liberty, built at a cost of $129 million, has received mixed reviews since its 2006 opening. One prominent Tour player was saying earlier this year it would be the worst course his fellow golfers would play in 2009. Another quipped it will be the best course he'll play this week.

Fair comment.
I think the only time they have a valid beef is when the greens and the areas around the greens are made impossible. Like Shinnecock. That was downright stupid.
But this is the FedEx Cup, so in the end no one really gives a ****.

Wonder if that wafting smell of maple syrup will disrupt the players.....

If there's any wafting smell coming from New York Harbor, I don't think it will be from maple syrup.

Try playing one of the public courses in Canada late in the season. Christ I think every greenskeeper is heading south for the winter! Here's the keys, lock up when you leave!

Pro golfers (half of whom have won $1 million or more in '09 already) playing two weeks after the last major of the year and complaining about a course in New Jersey.
Yeah, I'll watch....

How ironic that the "Garden State" is actually the most polluted state in the union.

As long as I don't hear another idiot yell "In the hole". At the PGA, some nerd yelled it on a par-4 tee shot. Next thing, just watch, some idiot will want to be the first to yell and will say it on a downswing. I really love that mute button now.

Oh Jesus.. more New Jersey bashing. For anyone who's actually been to the state, they are sure to know that the pollution rumors are a little dated. That's like when I believed Michigan was a crime ridden cesspool like in Robocop... and then I been there. Rumors confirmed.
