NFL's least valuable franchise is...

Forbes magazine, famous for its rich lists, just came out with its evaluations of the 32 NFL teams. No surprise, Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys tops the list with a current value of $1.65 billion. Only two NFL teams are unprofitable: the Seattle Seahawks, who lost $2.4 million, and the biggest loser of them all, the Oakland Raiders. Al Davis' once wondrous franchise is now the least valuable NFL club at a "mere" $797 million, plus the Raiders had the biggest operating loss in the league at $5.7 million.

Oklahoma Seahawks?

September 3, 2009  06:41 AM ET

The Crypt Keeper.

Looks like T&R likes this pic of Al, never changes

September 3, 2009  06:45 AM ET

Holy Crap it IS the Crypt Keeper!!!! I don't care what he did for the game, that is in the past. The best thing for the Raiders is his demise.

Not surprising...

A prime example of someone not aging gracefully.

September 3, 2009  07:12 AM ET

That's what happens when you let guy with Alzheimer's run the team.

The Cowboys aren't worth a dollar sixty five.

And, with apologies to Helen Keller, I wouldn't give you $0.99 for the entire state of Texas which should be given back to France.

France owned Texas? Why do they call it the Louisiana Purchase then?

September 3, 2009  07:17 AM ET

LOL pretty sure we stole Texas or at least of what is now texas from Mexico. Maybe we can give it back to them. Cowboys included.

Are you serious?

The anti-Cowboys bias on this site is unreal!

Believe that Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, New Mexico and California all came from Mexico after the same war. Might be a bit tough to give back Texas without the rest

More of the anti-Cowboys bias.

This is getting ridiculous.

People don't sit on the fence about the Cowboys. You love 'em or you hate 'em. Seldom will you see someone who doesn't care one way or the other.

September 3, 2009  07:25 AM ET

It is sad to see a once great team dragged through the mud because of Al's decline into dementia

No, they didn't, Texas was not part of the purchase, Oklahoma was, but Spain claimed some ownership of panhandle at the time.

It was called the Louisiana Purchase because the entire area was known as the French Louisiana.

I hear what you're saying, but the article just said the 'Boys are worth 1.65 billion...

So to say thy're not worth $1.65 is not only wrong, but it's ridiculous. Maybe the guy hates the Cowboys but still, his comment was crazy.

Not to mention the dig at the entire state of Texas...

Until they start winning; Oakland who?

September 3, 2009  07:33 AM ET

Now's the time to buy.

You'd think the NFL ownership would do something about Al considering he's operating with a huge loss every year and his product is worth so much less than other franchises. I have to imagine Al's idiocy has to be affecting the bottom line of the whole organization with revenue sharing and whatnot. The NFL as a whole could be making so much more if the Raider were once again a viable entity, huh?
