A's on way to San Jose?

10:31 AM ET 09.05 | Oakland Athletics owner Lew Wolff said he'd like to move the team to San Jose, Calif., which would get $130 million a year in economic benefits from a new stadium, according to a study released yesterday. Wolff said San Jose is now the best option for the team's new home. The city, which has a population of more than 1 million and is the 10th-largest in the U.S., is about 64 kilometers south of Oakland.

The A's are very much a business so this move is motivated by the bottom line. It would be interesting to know just how much this move will increase their earnings.

San Jose Native here. It's a great move for the A's because the population compared to Oakland is 3 to 1. The giants will fight this because they own the rights to San Jose but as you can see (the map posted on top) Oakland is Closer to San Francisco then San Francisco is to San Jose.
Other notables. SF games were shown on KNTV which is an Oakland TV station and A's Games are were shown on Channel 36 which is a San Jose based Television network.
SF Giants are partially owned by KNBR and all you hear about is news about the SF Giants. The Giants haven't won a championship since they left NY. Oakland has won 4 titles but they get no respect from the Bay Area, not even from the SJ Mercury.
Sabean is afraid because once the A's come to San Jose (I should say if because of the Commish Selig) they will take the biggest market in the Bay Area. Yes, San Jose's population is bigger than San Francisco's population by 200K. That means more Revenue for the A's.
We have a lot of Big Businesses here also. If the SF Giants say they have a fan base in San Jose, well guess what? The A's have a Fan Base in San Jose also. It would be a great move but I don't know if Selig will approve the move. That good ol boys network just isn't good.
I want the A's in the San Jose. They would sell more Season Tickets, they will get a devoted Fan Base. The Sharks have a great attendance and no one knows about Hockey in San Jose but we support our pro teams. I wish we could support SJSU's sports as well as Pro Sports.
