AC Milan coach Leonardo is ready to axe Ronaldinho for their Champions League clash with Olympique Marseille. After their 0-0 draw at Livorno - and Ronaldinho's disappointing performance - Leonardo knows, with morale on a knife-edge, they cannot afford another poor result against Marseille. Tuttosport says Leonardo will drop Ronaldinho for the game and field Clarence Seedorf behind the strike-pairing of Alexandre Pato and Pippo Inzaghi.

sheva is to chelsea as ronaldhino is to ac milan?

Sorry Hop, but although Ronnie hasn't been as consistent as they'd like, he has still made an impact. Sheva was nothing short of a complete bust at Chelsea.

oh, 'dinho, will we ever be wowed by your play again?

Diddn't they just resign him too? Or was that a rumor that they were about too.

If he did sign a new deal, does 1 or 2 off games warrant, a benching, or was the contract a rumor, and this is a sign of an end comming to his time in milan? I'm sure City would take him to England if he was available.

Outside of the obvious difficulties on the field, there is something odd going on behind the scenes at Milan. The politics at this club are something out Machiavelli - very treacherous - and as a life-long fan I've seen these episodes before: only this time it appears that the Galliani forces are at odds with the Leonardo ones. The whole late-substitution for Gattuso with Seedorf thing, and the club's reaction to the loss to Inter - which was uncharacteristically too quiet for Milan - says all you need to know about the state of the club.

Pirlo is the playmaker for this club, not Ronaldinho. And the fact that Leonardo couldn't see this is extremely problematic. Perhaps this is Galliani's influence, who knows. But there are big problems behind the scenes, and Leonardo should never have taken this job with Berlusconi's hatchet man in the picture.

I can already sense the "Ronaldinho to MLS?" thread.

Was thinking the same thing ... New York Red Bulls?

Ronaldinho won't play in MLS...he'll do what Ronaldo and Adriano have already done. Run back to Brazil and be loved by the masses.

September 14, 2009  11:09 AM ET

why is it when brazilian players get close to 30 their great years are behind them. Ronaldo, ronaldinho, next on list robinho.

September 14, 2009  11:10 AM ET

i wonder what question leonardo wants to axe him?

Totally agreed! But the endless speculation with MLS will commence. The shirt sales at Milan must have peaked.

Ronaldinho to Gremio? Sao Paulo? Corinthians? Probably more likely than Jersey or Galaxy, unless the money is ridiculous.

Ronaldo I do believe turned down offers from MLS so it is not unreasonable Ronaldinho would do the same.

I know Ronalidnho won't play in MLS. I was merely predicting the next absurd T&R thread. I think if he leaves AC Milan he will go to another European club before opting a return to Brazil.

I believe D-Wreck made the initial error. And was it the never to be forgotten Scottish-Baller? Didn't that start their feud?

Was this before my time? I remember Scottish, but I cannot recall any feud between D-Wreck and Scottish regarding Sheva.
