07:36 AM ET 09.15 | The White Sox have seen Alex Rios chase down fly balls, make accurate throws and display the ability to hit home runs off formidable pitchers such as American League Cy Young Award candidate Zack Greinke. But in the eyes of three scouts who have seen him dating back to previous years in Toronto, those abilities might be as good as it gets for the Sox. "He's a teaser," one National League scout said Sunday. "He can get you fired."

Somebody should be fired for the ChiSox's collapse, might as well be their GM.

What more do you want? I haven't seen him play much, but hell, those sound like good enough qualities to have in any Baseball player....

It is on now boys and girls. Angels vs. Saux.

This is the event that seperates the contenders from the pretenders.

this guy is the perfect example of scouts projecting a player to be some kind of superstud when he was not. up until this season he's been pretty productive right around .285 20hr's 80rbi's 20sb's not too bad
I guess the scouts were originally factor in him being on the juice in that case it would .300 30hr's 100rbi's 30sb's

September 15, 2009  08:36 AM ET

Figures a scout would say that. Their the ones who projected him as the next Willie Mays.

Whoever signed him to that rediculous deal in Toronto should be fired

September 15, 2009  08:57 AM ET

Was this a Gord Ash decision or Ricciardi?

September 15, 2009  08:58 AM ET

I think he'd fit right in with the Mets.

September 15, 2009  09:33 AM ET

The Sox made a big mistake on signing Rios. It's only a matter of time before the Yankees come knocking to sign him.

Better yet, the Sox should trade him to the Cubs. Hendry and the Cubs would love to have him.

I think the point is that yes, he has those qualities. But after you fall in love with the guy and trade 3 prospects for him or throw bags of money at him, he only shows those qualities every second Tuesday and you end up on the carpet answering to the club owner for your retrospectively poor judgment.

Guy's a batting practice hero, bottom line. He oooh's and aaah's you in the cage and then stands in the field for nine innings with his thumb up his rump.

J.P.Ricciardi signed Rios, Vernon Wells and B.J. Ryan to the most ridiculous contracts in sports history. He left Oakland looking like a genious and promised the Blue Jays owners that he can bring a championship to Toronto if we were willing to spend money. $100 Million later.........we are in the bottom 5 of the entire league!!!! He's been here since 2001?!?!?! WTF......
