White hints at Kimbo's return

09:51 AM ET 10.01 | Kimbo Slice lost again Wednesday on Spike TV's "The Ultimate Fighter" reality show. In a match taped in June, he was smothered by Roy Nelson, a round mound of fighting experience who twice exploited Slice's inexperience, laid him out in a crucifix position and dropped dozens of light but unanswered punches. And within a minute of his loss, Dana White, the UFC president, was on the program dropping unsubtle hints that Slice would soon enough return to active competition on the show. He'll likely replace fellow competitor Marcus Jones, who in scenes from next week appears to come down ill.

Roy Nelson sux. I'm not a Kimbo fan, but at least he tries to finish the fight. Roy was talking about what he was going to do before the fight, and he did just that. Only, what he was planning to do was stupid. No damage was done by those punches. Zero. I could see if Roy was raining down elbows, but he wasn't. Horrible. Herb Dean should have stood them up twice.

So, not so much "truth and rumours" as a review of last night's show eh?

That "fight" did indeed suck. Kimbo has ZERO ground game. Especially when he has a 260+ pound blob laying on him. Kimbo was waaaaay to tenative with his striking. He caught big Roy a couple of times, but doesn't know how to move laterally to avoid the takedown.
Roy wasn't out to hurt Kimbo. Once he got him in the crucifix, he controlled position and Kimbo couldn't protect himself, so Dean had to stop it. It probably should have been stopped at the end of the first round, but Dean let Roy tap Kimbo's head for a while.

Here are a few thoughts to the fight last night:
1. Roy is fat
2. Kimbo has heavy hands but no ground game
3. They should have been stood up when Roy was laying on Kimbo inflicting no pain/damage.

Here is what Kimbo needs to do to become a good fighter
1. Train with a camp that can teach him to use his weight and strength to his advantage on the ground
2. Develope a leg kick and use it often against opponents who are like Roy, Fat and top heavy.

I don't know what Kimbo's cardio is like but if he would have gone into that fight and worked leg kicks to soften up Roy he could have leveraged his heavy hands and delivered more punishment. He needed to focus on keeping Roy at a distance for a few minutes in round one then pound on him when he trys to shoot. I would like to see Kimbo work with wrestlers more to learn his weight and strength is a great advantage to have if used correctly.

Kimbo Slice is an MMA nothing he belongs back in Strikeforce at best and he couldn't win there. Slice could not beat any of the top 25 UFC heavyweights ever nor could he beat any of the light heavy's. Roy absolutely manhandled Kimbo like a child getting whipped in the school yard. A pitiful display of zero talent by Slice.

Why in the hell would any ref stand it up(Tribefan, RobertMenn)? One fighter was in a dominant position and raining blows on his opponent unanswered. Yes, I agree that the blows were far from anything substantial, but to arbuitrarily stand them back up, that's not what you do. I've seen Nelson fight before in the IFL, and I was never impressed. But Kimbo got handled, plain and simple. Nelson played it smart, took away Kimbo's distinct standup game, and took advantage of his utter lack of any ground game.

Yeah Dana White, you better hurry up and squeeze what money you can out what is left in the Kimbo Slice hype machine cause its batteries are going dead. That was another poor performance that is showing MMA fans that Slice is not much more than a scary looking fella with too inadequate skills to be consider a legit MMA fighter. I, too, drank the kool-aid from seeing Slice in those YouTube vids, but I have since been educated that you need more than a "look" and a solid right cross to make it in MMA- A LOT more. It looked like Kimbo was getting beat up by a middle-aged plumber last night.

The reason you stand it up is because he was throwing meaningless punches to the top of the head. If you have ever been punched in the top of the head (i have) its doesn't hurt at all since they are basically landing on the hardest part of the skull with little nerves which means no pain! Sure he took him to the ground and layed on him but after watching Kimbo get up when it happened in the first round you could tell he was not hurt at all.

Regardless he is still fighting dec 5th on the TUF show final.

Kimbo sucks, last night was pathetic, can't get up when taken down, any wrestler can beat him, better stick to backyard brawls, but not until Dana milks him for all he's worth to the UFC

Raining blows???? My 5-year old hits me harder than "Big Fat Country" was hitting Kimbo. The show is Ultimate Fighter, not Ultimate Laying My Big Fat Stomach On You!

October 1, 2009  12:32 PM ET

Roy Nelson is supposed to be the odd-on favorite to win this thing??? You gotta be kidding me. Kimbo had better stand-up, but his lack of a ground game, and inexperience showed. I am not saying Kimbo will ever be a top level guy (probably not, but at leastt he has some physical skills. If Nelson win's this thing, the other 12 guys left better hang it up for good.

If that fat slob was in the first UFC fight I ever watched, that would be the last one.

He's got no fighting skills whatsoever, I don't care who he fought or how it went. Just laying his big fat gut onto a guys's face is not any form of mixed martial arts that I know of.

Even Dana sounded disgusted. The ref definitely should have standed them up...what a joke.
Anybody remember Butterbean? Even fatter...if he was watching I bet he's thinking of a UFC career.

Who has Kimbo knocked out besides aging Ray Mercer and Tank Abbott? And dont even bring up the James Thompson fight. The ref shoudve stopped that fight in favor Thompson. Slice was not defending himself over several sequences there too. Saying he has heavy hands because he knocks out toughies in a street fight should not carry over to MMA unless he unloads them AND knocks out fighters that arent over the hill. Im not hating on the guy, I think he has big kahunas to subject himself to the TUF house. But I cant label him heavy handed unless he knocks out real MMA fighters just yet.
