Why Mav bails on national anthem

If you've ever noticed Jason Terry leaving the court for the national anthem at home games, it has nothing to do with any political statement. It has everything to do with his bladder. Terry always goes to the bathroom during the anthem, but means no disrespect by it. "It's just a good time to go," he said.

NO DISRESPECT?????? Sounds like nothing but disrespect!!! This is the greatest nation on earth, and this guy can't honor it? I've always been a Dallas Mavericks fan, but now it's a Dallas Mavericks (minus Jason Terry) fan. I think this **** and every other that doesn't honor our Country, Flag, or, National Anthem should be forever banned from any American dreams, maybe even stripped of his citizenship and shipped off to some other country where he can **** and play b-ball. Now I hope the G.S. Warriors beat them in five.

its not thatserious, if the guy had a pregame ritual that he sticks with, so be it, alot of players have some, he is not disrespecting the anthem at all, and i don't think its a big deal, lay off.

Hows about going before the game like the rest of the grown ups. What a disrespectful act, not to mention his obliviousness to it all. BOO THE MAVS! GO WARRIORS!

It is disrespectful...period! If he cannot go before he comes out of the locker room, then he needs to be seen by a doctor. Being a man of the military for almost 16yrs now, there are things that we hold near & dear to us...The Anthem, Old Glory, & our nation!

"Its just a good time to go" Jason Terry??? You shame your team, your state & your country! Control your players Mark Cuban & teach them some proper customs & courtesies....and for you Jason Terry, control your bladder for a measley two minutes!!!

I agree with your comments, Jason Terry attempt to say that it???s just a good time, then he should cut his warm up by five minutes and go and come back in time to honor the anthem. Nothing infuriate me more then our citizens disrespecting our national anthem. We have young and old service members dying to protect our freedom. For him to say it's just a good time and to not be able to stand all of a few moments to honor those men & women, who have sacrifice there lives, that he may play a basketball game. This guy is making millions and it just sickens me that he would make such a statement.

I guess Mark Cuban has more important things to do (complain about officiating) then hold his employees to a higher standard of respect for one of our nations honors!

J.T., run to the bathroom right after the shoot-around...not during the national anthem.

April 29, 2007  01:02 PM ET

This seems really disrespectful. He should go during his shoot around and not during the national anthem.

Three games to One. I bet all the G.S. Warriors honor our National Anthem. Sorry all you Dallas Mavericks (minus J.T.), but...Go Warriors!!!

All you blowhards need to give it a rest . . .

Just because a guy wants to **** in peace - you're ready to crucify him! He's not the one making an issue out of it - you're all the ones making a political statement out of it!

If that's his pre-game routine . . . so be it. If he doesn't like standing there doing the ****-**** dance during the national anthem . . . so be it. If he doesn't like standing there for the national anthem - period . . . so be it.

That's what makes this country great in the first place - - - we have the freedom to do it!
