Al Davis pondering new Raiders coach?

07:04 AM ET 10.05 | The guess here is that Raiders boss Al Davis is, uh, restless. Unlikely: Davis is blaming himself for the team's horrendous start and the wretched output of his three massively compensated young players: JaMarcus Russell, Darren McFadden and Darrius Heyward-Bey. More likely: Davis is willing to spread the blame and is pondering changes. Such as: New coach? Tom Cable is 5-11, and he's the coordinator and play-caller for an offense that Sunday averaged about half as many yards per play as the Texans. Cable is a good soldier, but the Raiders are 25-75 in their last 100 games. Though Cable can't get the blame for all that ineptitude, Davis can fire only one head coach at a time. Best guess, Cable survives at least until his team's bye week, after Game 8.

Cable will find it tough to coach a team from jail. What a perfect cop out for Al though.

Gosh he looks ancient on that shot.

Al,

Give me shot.

Who would want to come in and coach for a micro managing crypt keeper has-been? As long as Al Davis is around, this team is destined to be at the bottom. They need to blow up that entire franchise, and make sure Al is strapped to that grenade when they do it.

"the Raiders are 25-75 in their last 100 games."

And a new coach will make all the difference in turning this around.

Fans have been pondering a new Raiders owner for years.

I don't remember any marquee names applying the last time the job was open. It was so bad that Fassel was even mentioned.

Apparently, Al will use a new tool to pick his next head coach. People refer to it as the Oakland phone book.

as long as the world has stray kittens for al to swallow souls from, he'll keep living..

I don't think Al can ponder anything for too long.

I think he's been dead for 5 years - they just prop him up in the owner's box Weekend-At-Brenie's style

Man, did you flunk Defense Against the Dark Arts or something?

A wooden stake. Pounded through his heart, or the place his heart would be if he had one. That's the only way to kill him.

Turn that nasty old finger and point it at yourself Mr. Davis. No one, absolutely no one is too blame for the biggest joke of a team in the National Football League. And congratulations in advance on your new NFL record of seven consecutive seasons with ten or more losses. And as long as you're running the show it will likely be expanded to eight next year, a record that will be very tough to beat. Again, congratulations Al.

Too bad Al is not pondering a new owner
