05:57 AM ET 10.05 | In addition to enduring yet another difficult loss, the Oakland Raiders are bracing for the possibility that coach Tom Cable could be arrested soon in relation to an alleged assault on an assistant coach. Criminal charges against Cable could lead to a suspension by the league. "Everybody is trying to figure out who's going to take over if Tom isn't here," said an assistant coach, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "John Marshall has a lot of experience, he's probably the guy. But it's nuts. It's crazy when you start to really think about it."

...and the circus rolls on...

October 5, 2009  06:13 AM ET

Bill Parcells once said "The circus doesn't stay in town forever".

He's never coached the Raiders...

Only in Oakland.

Once a thug always a thug!!!

Lock his ass up.

October 5, 2009  07:14 AM ET

He should be arrested for his team's play.

October 5, 2009  07:15 AM ET

His street cred with the Raider faithful just tripled.

October 5, 2009  07:28 AM ET

Really? Do you really have to be concerned with "Who is going to take over" if cable leaves? They worried about losing some games their because of the turmoil or rocking that boat of stability Al has cultivated in his organization? Trust me...put Mr. Cable behind bars where he belongs for slugging his assistant...and no one will notice the difference. Except maybe the Raiders cooking staff who will notice their left overs growing exponentially. Particularly on pork chop night.

It looks like rain.

October 5, 2009  07:41 AM ET

it certainly wasn't anything he did on the field

October 5, 2009  07:42 AM ET

If I were him, I would not ask for bail. And no TV set.

October 5, 2009  07:43 AM ET

The only crime being committed here is charging Raiders fans that attend the games.

Multiple Tom Cable T&R's FTW!

October 5, 2009  07:51 AM ET

Arrest him, throw him in jail. It would be easier on him there, then where he is now.

Just his ass? Why? Won't the rest of him fit in the cell?

October 5, 2009  07:53 AM ET

The NFL should buy Alcatraz. Visitors could visit the prison and the NFL players housed there.

That replace "Just Win, Baby" and "Commitment To Excellence" as Davis's latest credo for the Raiders
