Dan Henderson is currently an MMA free agent considering all his options, but his camp says he is not close to signing a deal with Strikeforce or any other promotion after his negotiations with the UFC stalled.

Dana, Give this guy a contract pronto! I love Hendo's fighting style and heart.

Strikeforce is good for Hendo. He can be champ there.

Henderson knows the competition is much stronger in UFC than Strikeforce. A championship for Hendo in SF would be an empty title.

This is all negotiation tactics, and I'm confident he'll be back in the UFC.

I agree but Dana is as stubborn as Hendo's head is hard.

I hope so.

Dana just sign him. Hendo if nothing else is solid and u know what ur getting when he steps into the cage. Unlike guys like Vera and Kos who dont always show up.

October 19, 2009  10:36 AM ET

The ufc needs to come on and sign him already, a real vet with a lot of cage experience and always bring his A game.

Agreed. i wonder if a shot at Silva really is a sticking point in these negotiations. Hendo does deserve it over Belfort if none other than simply because Belfort has only had one fight back.

I was wondering the same thing... I think he is the only guy that gives him a run, and your right he def deserves it over Belfort. Plus he is a good soilder, if it comes to a good fight he'll fight anyone, he'll move up or whatever

Thats the rematch fight that I think every one would like to see, Belfort is good but after one fight in the UFC really doesnt say much to me to be able to jump in front of guys who are winning to get bumped out of the Silva sweepstakes??? race.

October 19, 2009  02:18 PM ET

I hope he sticks around. He is one of the few guys that Anderson cant knock out with that other-worldly placement of power punches. As long as he didnt get caught up in a jiu jitsu tangle with him, it would be a great fight because he would force Silva to employ more than his muay thai.

Lets hope that this is a leverage game with the UFC...

October 19, 2009  02:59 PM ET

Hendo is a great FIGHTER, he doesn't back down. After he shut up the loud mouth Bisping he proved that he can still bang....hope to see him soon in the UFC.

What about Hendo's past fights or his abilities makes any of you think he would seriously challenge Silva for the title? The fact that he has a solid chin and is a good soldier won't change that fact that he would get owned by Silva. Hendo will just take the beating longer than most of the other challengers. Knocking Bisping the f'out doesn't prove anything other than Bisping has a loud mouth and can't back it up. Hendo and Belfort should fight to see who fights Silva for the title. The fact that Belfort only has 1 fight in his return to the UFC shouldn't be held against him, especially given his past success. Now if Hendo is pissed because Soares wants him to fight Marquardt first, as was originally reported, then he's got a reason to be pissed.
