06:55 AM ET 10.19 | Bobby Valentine, whose New York Mets reached the World Series in 2000, is one of the finalists for the vacant Indians manager's job. Valentine, 59, it has been learned, will come to Cleveland this week for a second interview. He is expected to be one of "three to five" finalists to interview with GM Mark Shapiro and assistant GM Chris Antonetti.

If he doesn't get the Indians job I'm hoping the Mets might take a look.

they need to stop trading away talent , this loone isnt the answer!

I agree! This guy might be a good manager, but even he can't rescue this train wreck of a franchise. Thanks again to the Cleveland (AA) Pirates for the trade of Lee to the Phillies, what now appears to be a lopsided trade. In just a few short years the Phillies can get their prospects back anyway. When it comes time to pay these guys, that's when they will be traded.

I dunno, this could be interesting. One of those that could work out brilliantly or horribly

Way to sit on that fence!

Watch out for splinters and Hemroids!

He'd be a good choice. Certainly seems wiser than someone like Farrell.

That's not sitting on the fence. Eric Wedge had some success. I don't think you can say that it was a disaster, but it didnt work out.

Valentine however, is such a wild card personality that you just dont know about him. You also have to wonder how he is with building and growing with a young team.

Once again, SS, you've come up with an avatar that makes me want to toss one off before lunch. Well done.

I think Valentine is a good coach but you hit it on the head when it comes to trading away talent. Bobby would have been able to do more with this club the past few years but I'm affraid that the amount of talent on this team doesn't amount to much this year.
BTW, I think that Lee trade is working out pretty well for your team! I am glad we got your 4 and 5 best prospects instead of Happ because we could not afford him when he wants and deserves to get paid.

Happ is a good pitcher, with him and Hamels and Lee we have quite the southpaw rotation. I'd like to see Bobby V back in the MLB.............he's a nut. Oh and if SLink thinks it's a good thing for his team then I certainly hope it comes to fruition....................

He is fun to watch but he won't have too much to work with initially until ownership changes their tune when it comes to winning. The Dolans need to spend money but right now they are loosing it and they are very hesitant to spend anything until he see's results. 2010 is going to be another long year for the Sons of the feather!

Thoughts as retarded as those are easily wiped away.

Oh, Lord. The irony of you stroking off General Lee is fugging priceless!
